Re: NAB Challenge squad:

No lisle, smith, shiels, savage . . . disappointing, but then it probably has something to do with giving them extra time in the gym or something.

Re: NAB Challenge squad:

B: Guerra, Gilham, Cheney
HB: Gibson, Litherland, Birchall
C: Young - Lewis - Tuck
HF: Burgoyne - Franklin - Whitecross
F: Rioli - Roughead - Osborne
R: Hale - Mitchell - Bruce
Int: Renouf - Milne - Williams - Sierakowski - Schneider - Mahony
EMG: Ahmat-Watkins

Reasonably strong line up with 16 of the 25 named in the top 25 players at the club. Missing in Action from our best 25 are; Bailey, Ladson, Ellis, Bateman, Sewell, Hodge, Stratton, Puopolo, Murphy.

Thats a worry considering the number of games they've played between them. Doesn't say a lot for our depth.

Good to see Hale getting a run but disappointed there is no suckling - maybe clarko is resting most of those who went to Perth and will rotate them throughout the nab cup to get some serious game time into some of the younger guys looking to step up this season.

Re: NAB Challenge squad:

We will smack them like a red headed step child.

Get down to witness it :)

Once again no Max Bailey, while i'm all for nursing him into the season it's starting to become a serious worry for our ruck stocks, Grimley impressed last week, might be a good idea to give him more game time and avoid a repeat of Renouf flying solo.

Surprised by the absence of Savage and Smith, both show strong potential for breaking into the 22 in the near future, surely this sought of game is ideal for their development...

Still good to see the senior boys get some game time, especially Hale against the old club, Roo's were dismal last week so this shapes as a confidence booster, hopefully with no injuries!

Are we being serious about blending Pace into our established 22 ?

Re: NAB Challenge squad:

I wouldn't be put off by Baileys absence. Given his history he is always going to take longer to recover from matches.
I'll give you credit, you are the eternal optimist. Talk about blind faith.

If what you say is true, I guess we can expect Bailey to play about 5-6 games this year; play 1 week, have the next 3 weeks off.

There has to be serious doubts about this bloke if he can't enough recover 3 weeks after a intra club match!

That's purely opinion. Some would agree, some will not.

That would be a worst case scenario but it wouldn't surprise me at all for him to stay in Melbourne and skip all the interstate travel.

The bad news for that though is that we have to travel throughout the season - what do they do then.

I understand they want to ease Max into the game proper, but it's concerning that he hasn't had a hit out for a while now

Re: Hawks Regional Challenge

Given the squad, would love to see us start with:

FB: Guerra - Gilham - Milne
HB: Siera - Gibson - Birchall
Ce: Young - Mitchell - Bruce
HF: Lewis - Franklin - Whitecross
FF: Rioli - Roughead - Hale

Ru: Renouf
RR: Burgoyne
Ro: Schneider

I/C: Ossie, Cheney, Tuck, Litherland...

I just think it's fantasy that Max will play every game. Given his history it would be a miracle that he could play 20 plus games with 6 or 7 days recovery between them. I think we just need to accept that he'll be in and out of the side this year.
