No ,..... I think should we lose , we give Freo our R/U trophy . Freo have plenty of those and will be comfortable with it ;)
Sure, runner up in the derby but can't think of much else.:confused:

Its almost sad to think they can't even live up to the jokes made on their behalf.
And by sad I mean hilarious:thumbsu:

Seven Sport have to show the game at 4.30 pm and move their News bulletin back at least half an hour ! That has never happened before even in the final series telecasts :)

The game itself , I hope we win but seeing WCE field new players in McIness , Brennan , Weedon , Hams , Hill , Lycett and Wilson has been the most interesting aspect of the NAB series for WCE .

I'm tipping / hoping for all three of Cox, Naitanui and Lycett to play in the final.

Cox has played every game so far so no need to over do it. Naitanui has just had the one run so far, same with Lycett.

With at least one maybe two of Kennedy and Lynch not playing we can work on resting our rucks at FF. All three are very capable of creating a contest and taking a mark and it gives the midfield the chance to work with a different forward set up.

Anyone getting excited about this, I know it doesn't mean much but any success in afl, especially team success brings happiness all year round, really want to win it now were in it, will be nervous come Saturday, been a great preseason so far, let's continue it.

theres an article about teams that win the nab, never or rarely go on to win a GF!?..meaningless stuff based on mumbojumbo superstition..that was then, this is now.

anyway win or loss it should be a perfect warm up for the dogs..
hope to see more standup stuff from young ones..and no injuries please!:thumbsu:

article is a load of shit anyway.

1990 Essendon North Melbourne
1991 Hawthorn North Melbourne (this went OK)
1992 Hawthorn Fitzroy
1993 Essendon Richmond (this went OK)
1994 Essendon Adelaide
1995 North Melbourne Adelaide (these 2 won the next 4)
1996 St Kilda Carlton (next yr GF)
1997 Carlton Geelong
1998 North Melbourne St Kilda (beaten in the GF)
1999 Hawthorn Port Adelaide
2000 Essendon North Melbourne (this went OK)
2001 Port Adelaide Brisbane Lions (the loser won it all ++)
2002 Port Adelaide Richmond (port choked)
2003 Adelaide Collingwood (loser got to GF)
2004 St Kilda Geelong (2 up and coming sides)
2005 Carlton West Coast (WCE lost GF by a bees nostril hair)
2006 Geelong Adelaide (watch out. Geelong got 3 or the next 5)
2007 Carlton Brisbane Lions
2008 St Kilda Adelaide (st kilda were no mugs nor were adl)
2009 Geelong Collingwood (i seem to recall geelong had a good yr and coll unbeatable the next yr)
2010 Western Bulldogs St Kilda (this was a prelim FFS)
2011 Collingwood Essendon (losing GF and in the 8)

all it proves is premierships are quite difficult to win and require a bit of luck. heard Sheeds say one day its 95% good luck. he reckons you need a good run with injuries and some luck in running

also seems to suggest that side in the NAB cup GF have ok years and often it portends sustained success, win or lose.

Good work, seanoff.

Although strong conclusions cannot really be drawn from the NAB Cup, several aspects such as team structure, individual player fitness, and general team performance/morale lend themselves to analysis.

Essentially, you'd rather be where we are than Carlton at the moment. Of course there's no guarantee West Coast will end up above Carlton (the season is long, and luck required in terms of injury toll and predicted player improvement).

You can almost guarantee that at least one of the NAB cup finalists will make the top 4.

Rough thoughts on the team.

Of the best 22 players...

those likely to be have recovered from injuries: Gaff, Embley

those with fitness tests: Shuey, Mackenzie

injured players unlikely to play due to injury: Lynch, Kennedy

players potentially with shortened game times (due to a large amount of game time or injuries in Embley's case): Cox, Embley, Priddis, Masten, Nicoski, ?

those who are highly likely to play:

Butler Glass Waters
Hurn Schofield Butler
Rosa S. Selwood Hill
Weedon Darling ?
Hams Lycett ?

R: Naitanui ? Kerr

I/S: A. Selwood McGinnity ? ?

Res: ? ? ?

Those outside the best 22...

Those with a chance to play: Brennan, Stevenson, McInnes, Neates, Sheppard, Smith, Swift, Wilson

Those who won't play due to injury: Brown, Mascoulis, Newman, Dick

Others who are unlikely to play: Dalziell, Hamp, McGovern, Papertalk, Tunbridge.

I could have just waited to see the team tomorrow I suppose...

I liked that the reporter pushed a second question to Woosh to name which young players might get one last look this week despite strong returning players. Almost like Woosh thought about not naming names, then went with Weedon ("we've been really impressed with"), then Brennan ("going really well and tough to leave out of the side at the moment"), Fraser McInnes ("really pleased with how hes been coming along") and "someone like Lycett.

Gives a good look into which youngsters are actually forming in their early season thinking.

I might have paid attention had he named Hill and not McInnes. We would have to have an injury epidemic for McInnes to get the call up. Hill must be in season calculations given his efforts this NAB cup. I think he just named a few young ones off the top of his head

Lynch is only in week 2 after injuring a hammie, Kennedy's wearing a moon boot and M Brown is still a total no show this preseason. Apart from Darling we are looking a tad short on lead up CHF's at this point in time.

McInnes may well get a game simply as an insurance policy if none of these three are available come round 1, we might need him to share the load.:(
