I like the looks of the team and have no issues with Skinner being named. He sometimes goes missing but he offers a certain X-Factor out there which should help since our forward line is of a borderline unknown quality to other teams.

Bit harsh- he played one quarter of a game and couldn't get in it.

Shock horror that a first gamer doesn't dominate his first quarter of AFL footballer.

1. Jarrad Grant, 2. Robert Murphy, 3. Mitch Wallis, 4. Daniel Cross, 5. Matthew Boyd, 8. Patrick Veszpremi, 10. Easton Ward, 12. Tom Williams, 13. Daniel Giansiracusa, 14. Clay Smith, 16. Ryan Griffen, 19. Liam Jones, 21. Tom Liberatore, 22. Dylan Addison, 23. Jordan Roughead, 25. Ryan Hargrave, 26. Zephaniah Skinner, 27. Will Minson, 29. Tory Dickson, 30. Christian Howard, 32, Michael Talia, 37. Lukas Markovic, 40. Luke Dahlhaus, 42, Liam Picken, 48. Matthew Panos, 49. Ayce Cordy

Skinner was nowhere near ready when he played last year, it was more case of give the kid a taste of the big stage and see what response it provokes, it was long term strategy I'm sure. I'm really pleased he's fronted up for a second pre-season, build some strength and power, he obviously has a desire to make a name for himself still, which is a good sign. You never know how these young men will respond when taken out of their support network coming from a tight knit community to a big city. The management seems to have done the right thing so far.

How's Veszpremi going? I remember his early games with Sydney, something to like there, looked very composed for a youngster but he's got himself a bit lost in the AFL World since then. Any reports on his preparation for the season, reports last year suggested there was a bit of an attitude shortfall (by AFL standards)?

So who is missing from this squad?

Cooney
Lake
Gilbee
Higgins
Tutt

Any other glaring ones I have missed?

Djerkurra
Moles (is he still on the senior list)?
Williams
Morris
Sherman

They'd be all likely to play some senior football this year (At least three of those I'd consider in our best squad of 25 players).

Hooper, Moles and Mulligan would need some game time over the next couple of weeks, or else it doesn't look good for their opportunities for the rest of the year. Hooper and Mulligan would take some considerable improvement to make it as a regular anyway.

Great to have Shaggy back though. Hopefully he doesn't break down this year, usually presents super fit and ready to go.

Bloody good to see Smith, Dickson and Talia in.

All three could very well play Rd 1.

Had to laugh....they have Easton Wood listed as Eastern Ward....

Not a bad squad first up only 5 to 6 players shy of our best.. Pretty much as expected except I was hoping Tom Hill would have been named, he played very well last week. Tutt was other one, he must have a niggle. DJ would have played for sure had he not broken his hand.

Looking forward to seeing how Dickson goes, also Veszpremi coming off half back? We get to see some more of Skinner and Cordy and of course we get our first proper look at Clay Smith and Talia. :thumbsu:

Any reason why Tutt's not playing?

I too want to know this.

Excited to see (well, hear. Stupid not having foxtel) how Clay Smith goes. Collingwood have fielded a very young side as well, and GWS obviously will too :p. Should be a couple of good matches.

So it's 2 games with 2x20min halfs. 2 on the interchange and 2 subs I believe. We have 26 in the squad so there will be 4 changes in the second game.

First game v GWS and this is what I'd go with.

B: Easton Wood - Lukas Markovic - Ryan Hargrave
HB: Patrick Veszpremi - Michael Talia - Robert Murphy
C: Daniel Cross- Matthew Boyd - Ryan Griffen
HF: Daniel Giansiracusa - Liam Jones - Luke Dahlhaus
F: Tory Dickson - Matthew Panos - Ayce Cordy
RU: Jordan Roughead - Tom Liberatore - Liam Picken

SUB: Mitch Wallis, Jarrad Grant

Rest: Williams, Howard, Skinner, Minson

game v Pies .

B: Easton Wood - Lukas Markovic - Chirstian Howard

Collingwood will have just 9 of their GF team on the park. We are full strength minus Higgins, Cooney, Lake and Morris.

Edit: WESTERN Bulldogs veteran Robert Murphy has predicted a harder Dogs outfit under new coach Brendan McCartney

How do we feel about Callan Ward coming up against his old side? I personally couldn't care less, but it makes an interesting talking point.
i couldn't care less as well.

I would love to see Redpath out there only because I see him murdering half of the Giants out there.

Agree.. Seen him in person at highpoint with jones and clay and fcuk me dead he is nearly as tall as jones but is very built! would make a fool of the GWS defence :p
