lol love how people have given up on Hendo already-he's 20 years old ffs!

Yarren and Bower were the clear highlights for me. Oh and I swear Robinson is taller now

I know we're not giving our hand away at this stage, managing workloads, experimenting, etc.....but I'd rather see Kreuze play in the guts.....one of his biggest pro's is having an extra midfielder at the contest. Hendo/Waite and Hammer up forward.

Agreed Splendini, he is wasted down there. Could tell when he moved onto the ball in the third tho, was hard to get a contest in our forward line.

Dont think Hampson is the answer up forward...

Waite will be a bonus, need to play young Levi over the next few matches because i didnt like the structure up forward tonight!
Get Levi up forward against the Lions. Get the boy some experience.

I though Scotland played well, apart frpom the 2 sitters he dropped. Yarran showed how good he's going to be. If Hendo held some of them marks..... Overall not to disapointed, I was the first hit out after all. Davies also showed he will be a regular senior player.

Things like decision making and basic skills will come with more match time.

Dont stress people we'll be fine.

what happened to warnock? I had my brother and his missus over for a bit and was only able to watch bits and pieces of the first half... watched the whole second half and he was missing... injured?

All the stuffing around with chipping backwards & sideways in defence- nothing to go forward too.
Hampson's not really up to it still, mclean & hadlee were disapointing, warnock didnt do too much, grigg started well but disappeared, fisher looked like he was having a go.
2 marks in the fwd 50 to half time & only a couple more after it.
does gibbs look like farren ray to anyone else ?
bad skills at last weeks intraclub match & more of the same tonite - hopefully its a first up blow the cobwebs out match & not indicative of how they are truly travelling.
I bet the tiges board is lighting up like its xmas with posts on how they'll smash us after tonites game.

ctacp
crlier than a catoggio pube

Club gave Kruezer and Hammer (last qtr) a shot up front and it failed in this game. They have to keep trying because there really isn't a B option except Waite, and he is coming off a major injury!

Had high hopes for Browne but has a very mixed game interlaced with bad decisions and disposals. Not giving up on him just yet.

JR...he is capable of some really bad stuff!

More than the players, and i know Sydney screw games up with their style, but we need system in moving the ball - we looked a joke across the ground!

Our field kicking was atrocious too!

Positives
Yarran (Jetta showed as much if not more though)
Bower - looks the real deal as a backman
Fisher/Robinson early..
Um...

JUST SAY IT, WE'RE SHIT! MAKES ME FEEL BETTER.

WTF ARE THEY DOING DOWN AT CARLTON???? SERIOUSLY?

I WANT AN EXPLINATION!!

FAIR ENOUGH ITS ONLY A NAB GAME, BUT COMON NO EXCUES FOR THAT PROFORMANCE!

"Close your eyes take a deep breath" YES WERE SHIT!

Henderson - we need to learn how he plays and leads

LH's goal came from Hampson leading up the ground to create movement and dishing it off after his mark.

I prefer Hampson up forward and Kreuzer in the ruck.

Davies - Won the ball, got rid of it and ran hard to get it back

Nice kick.

Robinson - Love him.

Yarran - did well when we managed to get it down there

Warnock - got through the game

Anderson - liked his run and gun

Lucas - likely type

Bower is a gun and stronger than last year

JR - two bad kicks, but defended well and showed that he now has some footy smarts

Did they get the umpires from a little league game?

They hit both sides with ridiculous frees.

A good loss.

Now we get to play at home and not at the desert. :thumbsu:
4 months of rebuilding > 8 years????
What?
Browne was c.rap, rubbish and hopefully never to be seen again.
We used to say the same thing about Russell.

Browne needs to improve his decision making and disposal, but his attack on the ball was something to behold.

Fearless.

Why don't we push up the ground when they have the ball?

Are we worried about the next kick?

Maybe.

Dont discount the effect of the humidity up here either guys. 85% humidity for 6 weeks, it is not the heat that wears you down it is the humidity. It feels like Cairns weather and the Swans have trained in it we haven't. I am not too concerned by the fumbles and miskicks, usually silky players were doing it all night.

The shame for interstate fans is we now wont see the team for 6 weeks. But then, no TV means clubs cant study our structures. Its one thing sending scouts but without vision they dont get to pick apart the set plays so well. Its not all bad. The whiners ought to keep some perspective.

My biggest gripe after tonight is that we kick to a contest far too often when going into the F50. We need to kick to space or at least put the ball out in front of our KPP's and allow them to run at the contest instead of being jumped all over themselves.

I never get too excited at this time of year. I don't mind this development as we get to hone the game plan away from TV. Pretty scrappy game tonight but you expect that when you play Sydney. I wouldn't start rating players on tonight's performance. I liked Yarran's effort towards the end of the game when he left the Sydney guy for dead. Pity he missed the goal but we need him turning players like that more frequently. The backline boys were pretty solid. Good for all the new guys to get a run in the real stuff. As the season proper gets going will expect more from McLean, Henderson and Warnock. Lucas and Davies look capable of playing some senior footy this year. The ad during the game highlighted no Judd or Fevola for the first game against Richmond. I looked at the team tonight and thought we might be improved by Murphy, Waite, Simpson, Betts, Walker and Houlihan by March 25. Bring it on.

Negatives: Browne-Mclean-Yarran-Anderson-Henderson.

I reckon you're torching Yarran and Hendo a bit much there.

Henderson looked the bizz to me... just not ready yet. Ie. Like a high-draft-pick KP forward prospect looks like a few years before they're a star. He lead well, got his hands to a lot of contests, just had balls bounce off his chest/out of his hands. He's not ready this year. He just isn't. But he looks like a blue-chipper to me.

Yarran kicked 1.4 and blasted one out on the full. Not quite the silky skills we hear about all the time... but he looked faster and fitter... and when is the last time a Carlton player ran past/around people to have a shot at goal? That turn of speed and flair are things we haven't had in ages. For first pre-season game of his second year... I liked the signs as well.
