I've seen 5 games, and to say he's done more than anyone expected is a stupid comment unless the people at geelong had incredibly low expectations of him to start the year. What has he done to warrant all the hype about him????? besides have a famous surname??? i his last name was smith he wouldnt be anywhere near any AFL clubs list.

You would think with two heads & two brains you could talk more sense than that crap. :D

P.S - Check team supported if you dont understand.

funny you should say that because im actually nathan's player sponsor and had the chance to go to a function with him at the club. He was as shy as anything but he was one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, was well mannered and on his first official function was extremely inviting and kept up conversation with me and answered any questions i asked without hesitation. in the end i was one of the last to leave and whilst other players had gone home he was showing me the new gym and rooms etc.

Fantastic post! Thank you for sharing that with us :)

Gee thats a mature thing to do, make a call about the state that i'm from rather than say why u think my comments are crap. Nathan Ablett has played 40-50 mins of decent football since he has been at Geelong and all u blokes are getting carried away with it, ur pumping it up worse than the media!!! I'm not saying he cant be a good player one day (although im still not convinced) i'm just telling you to stop getting ahead opf yourselfs. Does anyone care to tell me which VFL games nathan has played well in this year??????? And he isnt the first father/son to receive media hype so that excuse for him is stupid.

No one is getting carried away. We'll leave that to the media and opposition supporters.
We are just happy for the kid that he got a well deserved RS nomination.

Nothing more, nothing less.

You say he's only played 40-50 mins of decent footy, yet he's kicked 6 goals and had 3 goal assists in that time. I'd say he's either played 40-50 mins of brilliant footy or he's played 2 solid games, what's it gonna be?

While I haven't actually seen any VFL games, from what I hear he's probably played about 4 or 5 pretty good games. He's kicked about 3 goals on a couple of occasions and I think he's had a few good games at CHB. I think he's also been carrying a knee injury for a lot of the year and kicked 9 goals in 2 preseason matches, so he can obviously turn it on at some stages.

He's not being hyped because he's a father son, there's no doubt it's because he's an Ablett and furthermore, an Ablett who has exploded on to the scene as a key forward.

The fans on here are hyping him as much because we haven't had a decent key forward prospect since his old man as we are because he's an Ablett.

Oh yeah, and please, drop the argument about him being there because of his name. Clearly he's proved by now that he has enough talent to at least warrant his spot on the senior list to see how he goes. If he had a different name he would have played TAC, got drafted and be ahead in his development from where he is now.

Dear Sook,

Firstly, it was a joke. Secondly, you contantly are attempting to put the kid down.

Us Geelong folk keep stating that he has exceeded expectations because he clearly has. Supporters wished it would happen but realistically thought that Nathan would not play a senior game of AFL football this year.

Nathan has not only played, but has contributed in both of his games and has played well so he has exceeded even the highest of expectations. If he had solely played in the Melbourne game and collected one stat and it was a clanger, he still would have exceeded expectations because HE WAS NOT EXPECTED TO PLAY SENIOR FOOTY THIS YEAR.

Hence the reason you you're comments are crap, as you put it.

And to say a that a kid that in his first season makes his senior debut and contributes was only drafted because his name is just as stupid as you're 2 heads - Joke!

I am assuming that Geelong is 1 of 16 AFL teams that would have taken the punt on Nathan Ablett. As another member so rightly pointed out. Everyone wants an Ablett. We have two!

Checkmate.

The only reason he played a game was because he was pretty much the last option, it's not like he earnt his spot throguh good form in the VFL, not that WestCat would know considering he's making all his comments on the two games of football he has seen. Another point i'll make is that Geelong won by 76 points on the w/e so it isnt surprising he played well, the only 2 other games that any of you have said he has played well in were the practise matches earlier in the year when the VFL team won by 100 odd points both times.

Vfl form is rarely a reason for a player earning a spot in Geelong's senior team.
Yes Geelong won by 76 points but Nathan broke the game open in the first quarter and it was against the best team in the comp.

Go CATS!!

Hello again sookie,

Have not heard from you in a while. Did it take you that long to come up with that pathetic reply? Seriously, your arguements need some work.

What difference does it make if he was the last option or the first option in the senior line up? The bottom line is, Nathan played and played well.

Yes, we won the game by 76 points, but we started the game equal, we built the winning lead with the help of Nathan contribution in his brilliant first quarter.

I would also like to point out that Nathan kicked 4.1 and set up 2 other goals. Effectively, he single handedly created 6.1 for the afternoon. Considering West Coast entire score was 5.3. I think Nathan played out his role very successfully.

Nathan has also played well and has been nominated in the best players in his role in the seconds for his defensive efforts at centre half back. I believe someone has previously mentioned this. Do you're research.

Said it once, will say it again. Put both of your heads together and come up with a more valid arguement or drop the subject, admit defeat and stop hoping that young Nathan will fall flat on his face.

Case close. Please don't embarrass yourself anymore.

Conclusion: You're a goose, Nathan may be a superstar.

You're leaving the conversation 'at that' because it is clearly evident that you have no idea what you are talking about.

Do you're research and comeback with a respectful arguement so i can proove you wrong again. I am on a hat trick!

Is it true that Nathan "The greatest player to ever to play 2 games of football" Ablett isnt playing this week, gee guess he isnt as good as all you d**kheads talk him up to be. I'd dare say he's the first rising star nominee to get dropped the week after receiving his nomination, what a joke. and dont tell me any of you believe this general soreness crap or ur all stupidier than i thought

You are an absolute moron, I was prepared to accept your arguments before as you weren't being so bitter, but this is just crap. Why else would he not play but for an injury? He kicked 4 goals last week and played a great game, you don't drop players who are in that kind of form. You are obviously a bitter and jealous person who is really lacking in something and need to get a hobby or a life, perhaps you are just socially inadequate or insecure. Give it up already before you embarass yourself further.
