As I reported on the thread which makes this very announcement Bucks himself is actually on 3AW NOW, and had been since 6.07pm. From his own mouth tonight he has said that the media are clutching at straws in an attempt to get in first with the story of his final decision. He said he hasn't made any decisions as yet and he won't play the media's game. He was looking forward to meeting with JB tonight at 8.30, just as he's looking forward to meeting with Richmond later in the week, and as he enjoys his discussions with Collingwood.

In short, he claims that he hasn't made any decisions YET!

(Note to opposition supporters posting here - this is a North Melbourne board and as visitors you should tread very carefully when "defending my team". Arguments to and fro are for elsewhere, not here!)

+-EXCLUSIVE: NATHAN Buckley is believed to have told North Melbourne he won't be taking its coaching job. Buckley is understood to have advised the Roos of his decision this morning.

The decision reinforces the view he will return to Collingwood as senior assistant Michael Malthouse for at least the next two years.

Neither North Melbourne chairman James Bradshaw nor chief executive Eugene Arocca could be reached this afternoon.

The Roos had told Buckley he had first call on the job vacated recently by Dean Laidley. They are believed to have offered him $2.8m for four years.

North now will spread the net in search of its next coach.

Former players John Longmire and David King are expected to be candidates, while Hawthorn assistant and for mer Essendon and Port Adelaide premiership player Damien Hardwick is expected to attract keen interest.

Neither Buckley nor manager Craig Kelly could be reached for comment

Personally I go to the football to cheer on the players. I don't cheer a balance sheet, membership number, tax return or financial statement.

I could spend time comparing North & Richmond's membership. Or I could look at a photo of myself, holding the 99 premiership trophy, standing next to the Norm Smith medalist Shannon Grant (photo was taken by another premiership champ Peter Bell) and absolutely love my club. I'm 24 & have watched 2 premierships - what would a Richmond supporter of the same age have seen?
