Has anyone been on an AFL list longer before making their debut?

Jonathan Giles spent 4 years on an AFL list (2006-2009), 2010 in the SANFL with Sturt and 2011 on GWS' NEAFL list before making his debut in 2012.

Really glad for the kid. Hopefully he runs out the season in the AFL and then backs it up in 2019 with full confidence in his body.

Deserves a decent shot at it. Drafted in the first round looked after poorly by his first club's medical team from all reports. Switch's club's and now has worked his arse off and gets his chance. Looks a jet at VFL level hoping it follows on to AFL.

I don't know (despite my name), but with a 256 page, 6383 posts thread dedicated to him on the St Kilda board and a further 247 page, 6164 post thread on the Collingwood board (albeit a few of these posters may have strayed a little off-topic), that has to be some sort of BF record for a player that hasn't yet debuted.

The HS said this morning he wasn’t getting picked this week, despite 37 touches in the VFL, due to a “selection log jam”.

Good to get a look at what all the fuss was about.
