Player Watch Nathan Freeman

Freeman is under the cloud of repeated, slow-healing (chronic?) leg injuries and from the handful of times he played in the VFL or pre-season competition, the general opinion seemed to be that there were concerns about the quality of his kicking and his ability to rack up a big enough possession count. So what's the big deal about him leaving? It would be irresponsible of the Club to make a two-year, $600K commitment to an unproven player with such lingering doubts hanging over his head. It would also be irresponsible of Freeman to not grab the cash St.Kilda are offering. One more blown hammy could end his career. It might be his one and only chance for a big windfall.

By contrast, Aish had an outstanding first season, before second-year blues caught up with him this season (which is common and forgivable). If we can use a pick from St.Kilda to snare Aish, I reckon we are massive winners out of this. If it comes together, we can all just pretend that we originally drafted Scharenberg and Aish.

Now, lets go get Aish!
As swap of pick 5 for 7 will go a long way in making that pick 23 more palatable.
why when it's only going to used in he treloar deal anyway

I have noticed were more then happy to entertain the stkilda fans on this forum, yet the Collingwood fans that have been on the Stkilda board there replies have been erased.

Many Stkilda fans not all are calling for payback , and a vandeta style killing for payback for Luke Ball.
Also wanting to get payback from Essendon in regards to Carlisle, becouse of the way they got screwed in the Lovett deal.
Eventhough when pointed out to them by me, that Collingwood didnt screw Stkilda. Stkilda screwed Stkilda in regards to Luke Ball with the way they treated him. They erased my message.
Obviously the truth hurts!
Just remember Saints fans dont go poak a bear, we all know what happens!
We will always be the AFL cash cow! Main event! Show stopper!
You will always be our little sister! We will protect you like we do to all small Victorian clubs.
What payback for luke ball, they didnt even play him the year we got him?

He went into the draft and we got him. Someone could of snapped him up if they wanted to

Dale Tapping has been appointed as St. Kilda's assistant coach. He is very close to Alan Richardson.

Is taking Freeman with him.

It's always been the way mate. Look who mods that little snake pit, it is why our board has miles more and better discussion; while there's is the bitter circle jerk of failure that epitomises their club so well

Will vomit if that's true about Tapping.

Heard Freeman is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Was having trouble remembering all our rich history. Requesting a trade to StKilda solves that problem.

StKildas Histrory: Barry Breen wobbles through a point, the end.

Nathan Freeman?
I recall the name, somewhere, was he a player?
Sorry. Who?

Only, kidding, good luck to him and lets enjoy getting Treloar

Actually yeah, they are directly related. Clubs don't go offering a salary over the odds to lure players away from their current clubs unless they rate them highly. It's a dead giveaway that the Saints have big wraps on him if they're willing to offer the kind of coin they have with no performance conditions. If they're willing to take that kind of risk to lure him to their club, then the risk of a second round pick in a shallow draft shouldn't be an issue. You don't offer mediocre players big money just to make up cap space, you offer good players big money to improve the list. It's a pretty simple concept that most St Kilda fans seem to conveniently overlook.
I don't doubt we rate his potential but two things

"the Saints have big wraps on him if they're willing to offer the kind of coin they have with no performance conditions" that's an incorrect assumption

"You don't offer mediocre players big money just to make up cap space" - no but if you have spare cash and you can afford to take a punt, you then offer potentially good players like Freeman over the odds for the first year in the hope he comes good for the following couple of years. (and we do have spare cash next year - I think we have over $500k freed up from vet payments alone)

With genuinely good players who are exactly what you are looking for, you will offer way over the odds if that what it takes to get them to your club. (ie Jake Carlisle, Buddy Franklin Tom Boyd) but the reality is that the only time the extent of contract offer has a direct bearing on trading is when compensation picks are in play but we poor supporters have no idea how that works since the AFL keeps it all secret.

Where does this info come from?

Do people seriously think Freeman is going to be a Dangerfield???

Is that just from that tweet that Paige put up when he was drafted?

He has never in any shape or form looked or played like Dangerfield to my eyes.

The only similarity they have is pace.
I think the other reason was that they were both pick 10. It was always pretty tenuous

Edit: no pun intended

Hadn't watched the highlights of Freeman before today so went to the Club site and had a look.
Not sure what all the talk is about, there was nothing special there, very little pressure when he had the ball and his disposal wasn't the best.

Also seems Connors contradicts himself a fair bit, I am over it no big loss just hope that we can get some value based on people's belief on how good he may be.

Also thought that this was interesting from Watson on SEN:
Morning Glory's Tim Watson took a different stance.

"If I was the manager of the kid, you know what I'd be saying?

"Let's forget about chasing money because your body is all banged up at the moment and you haven't been able to prove yourself. Let's stay where the club has looked after you for two years."

Connor remained adamant that money is not a factor.

"It’s not as simple as it’s about money. To say he’s just leaving because he’s getting more money — it’s not as simple as that. It’s not how Nathan Freeman conducts himself.

"Collingwood is upset because they’ve invested a lot of time, so I understand the emotions will be high. I’m not going to sit back and let Nathan Freeman’s character be questioned, because he’s a ripping person."

Reckon there's no love lost between Connors & Collingwood FC.

Personally I think he's just a sh..stirrer.

Hardly. We are a professional club, we have to deal with agents and personalities would not really enter into it. If we offer one of his clients the best deal, he will steer the player our way, if not they go elsewhere. He has a job to do, just like Balme and Hine do.

Watch his TAC Cup highlights and youll see how he like danger. Has more outside game than inside, which is why he isnt exactly like danger, but his ability to win contested ball, cleareances and his massive frame for a mid is why he is SIMILAR to danger

Actually Freeman was talked about his Inside Work and His Pace would get away from the Packs.

Bit like Dangerfield Does

Looking forward to no longer hearing how Freeman is like Dangerfield, and how Dangerfield might just come to the Pies. Roll on 2016!

So much energy wasted on this thread. Who cares?
Interesting that you came in to a thread to pretty much post "who cares".

I would say a lot of people care as he is a top 10 draft pick that a lot of us have not seen play (maybe only our VFL watchers).

I am not even too sure why you would say what you said.
