This really sucks. It's not something that should prevent someone from getting a brownlow and 2 weeks even with an early plea is a joke. On the up side, at least now they can sub him off at 3 quarter time without it hurting his brownlow chances....

F***ing atrocious decision, even as a Hawk fan I feel cheated that he won't be playing on Friday night. He's one of my favourite players to watch.

I agree there's not a lot in it, but a precedence has been set. The AFL has made it clear they will suspend anyone who elects to bump and makes head high contact. I don't agree with it, but that's how they're judging it.
To me the clash of heads was 2ndry movement on both players behalf on the shoulder on shoulder contact . Ridiculous - I am certain there are red faces at AFL now in the cold hard light of day , there wasn't even murmurings about this !!

The rule stinks.

But under the rule: The AFL has also announced that a player who initiates a bump will be cited for rough conduct if he clashes heads with his opponent as it places further emphasis on protecting players from head and lower leg injuries.

There can be no arguing the suspension under that rule. He initiates the contact, and he clashes heads. People saying it's a rubbish decision should direct their frustrations at the rubbish rule. Based on the rule the suspension is valid.

Mate, I feel for you, and I agree with you. The problem is we've been down this path several times before, and the bottom line is simply whenever a player elects to bump, and head high contact is made as a result, the player gets suspended. I really don't know why people are still throwing their hands up in horror whenever it happens. I wish they'd do away with it, but while it's there, we know what the outcome will be.

Actually this appears to be the precedent, because they changed the rule this year to include head clashes after Lindsay Thomas got off last year.
