I think his 2 shoulder recos was because of the way he lands when jumping for a mark. They seem to have finally fixed that.
I'm glad I wasn't in charge - I would have just cut his achilles tendons so he couldn't jump, but he still can - worries me a bit.

I doubt he's in the side if we have Checkers and McStay back. I'm happy to see how he goes in the meantime. He hasn't killed anyone or himself yet so that's a bonus

After Kreug's return game, both Darcy Moore & Freddy spoke about the extra work they had done together & the chats they've had about Freddy limiting his kamikaze style of playing to limit his injuries.

It's obviously something he & the club are well aware of & he's no doubt worked hard at changing the way he plays. He acknowledged it's how he's always played. Good on him for working on it.

He deserves a good run at it, we can all see he has the talent.
Even McRae mentioned that, at times, they worry he'll injure one of his team mates the way he attacks the ball.

Yeah. Krueger will have probably played about 6 games by the time Cox is back. Has a chance to nail a spot. No idea if he'll take it.

I’m as big a Mason Cox fan as you’ll find (domus excluded), but I’m not sure we’re missing his presence at the moment.

He was in really bad form.

Hopefully Krueger stays fit and then they'll get a good block of games to see what occurs when he's in the ruck.

At Geelong and earlier on with us Kreugs was often injured in kamakazi like contested situations. He'd fall over attempting to mark or tackle and end up hurting himself rather than the other bloke. He'd do it just as often at training OR in the VFL.

He doesn't mark the ball above his head (90% of the time) so his marking attempts often involve him crashing his body into others in the attempt to catch the ball on his chest. He often "dives" to try and mark or sometimes he dives to attempt tackles and this leaves him helplessly exposed to contact. As others have noted for a man his size, he is extremely quick, but his speed is in straight lines. He has limited spatial awareness and balance so he is easily moved off balance and sent crashing into others. Watch him closely, he spends a lot of time sprawling on the ground.

I've watched Kreugs a lot at Geelong and he has only ever played the way he still does. His skills, his awareness have never improved and its why I hope we get a few more games out of him before he injures himself again.

Playing him as a KPF alongside Checkers or McStay could be really dangerous for one or both of them because Checkers will always attempt to get the ball and Kreugs might not be able to change direction quickly enough to miss making contact. Once defenders realise that he doesn't mark above his head (90% of the time) they'll also take advantage of this and turn the ball over on him.

I think the overhead marking issue is more between the ears than an inability. He’s shown he can do it and as his confidence in his body grows I think we’ll see him do it more.

I love him and hope he gets it together.
I want him to succeed too but there was a moment in that last quarter when he spilled a dolly of a mark. He followed up with his trademark tenacity and laid a good tackle but he does that too often for my liking. Checkers has such good hands as does McStay so the comparison is stark.

It's your boy he may hold out, if he stays fit there will be about 6 games of data to see the size of the negative impact of only one genuine ruck.

He spilled a mark in his 11th (?) AFL game, and let’s be honest they haven’t been anywhere near even 11 complete games. I think we can afford to see where this goes.

Yep. I'm confident we will ultimately go back to the two ruck system we had last year. The break will do Coxy some good. He should come back fresh and ready for the charge to the finals.

Checkers is also capable of going through a game somewhat unsighted. Kreuger has a booming kick and has good ground skills for a tall player. If he is not expected to be the centre piece of our attack, he could become a very handy player.

I think he offers more than Cox. Seems better at making contests 50/50, is much more likely to score, and is way better at ground level and applying pressure.

I take all that over Cox’s ruck work
Cox gives Cameron a serious chop out WITHOUT conceding Ruck effectiveness in the way Kreuger would.
We aren’t eroding our 2 Ruck strategy, which has proven so successful.
Kreuger is mobile enough to stay fwd and experiment with 3 talls fwd.
His ground game ensures we don’t compromise defensive pressure greatly.

Ah okay.. guess the 6 years of being injured was all just bad luck.. thanks for sorting that out. Very reasonable indeed and just pure laziness to disagree.
His kamikaze approach which contributed to injury has been dialed back considerably ( after counseling from Moore as revealed in the SEN interview) so there definitely is optimism around an injury free run.

I think that Kreuger is young and has heaps of potential. We are blessed to not be relying on his potential but to have the option of choosing from Cox, Steene, and of course McStay when they soon return from injury as the second-ruck/forward. Frampton and Smit can also be considered in this role

I trust our match committee to make the best decision

Not wrong. He needs to prove his body can hold up the rest of the season to garner a new contract
