I agree that we still need a key forward, but how good are Archer Reid and Logan Morris? I’m not saying that I know btw. I’m just genuinely asking the question to those who know.

One thing we’ve learnt over the last decade is that getting a tall just for the sake of their height really pay off. They’re not like mids/smalls that can become role players. They’re either good enough to be a first-third tall or are out of the side. That’s probably something we’ll have to think of with our picks.
Morris works hard up the ground, back and forward. Good mark for his height. Can't see anything in Reid other than height.

Dont want another ruckman, as we have Nank, Ryan, Naismith, and Miller who can also ruck along with Colina and Hayes. That is enough for now.

Would not want the club to trade away a future second to jump a few spots. We'll have draft power next year with a first and 2 two second-rounders.

I want Copper Simpson who is quick and provides good run & carry, or a strong robust forward, ala Logan Morris.

Murphy, a tall, quick athletic defender, is another on our radar.
My 3 picks also. But unlikely we get the ones we want. Murphy is also a very good mark.

Last night was depressing.

Watching the top 30 picks without a Richmond one for the 2nd year in a row was bad. Hartley has mortgaged our future.

We could of had Dan Curtin Last night and another gun last year also

But we did get a gun last year, a 24-year Taranto who just won our B&F and came top 6 in the Brownlow.
The two picks were (14 Hewett (14 games) & pick 21 Jones/175 cms who hasn't debuted yet)

Hopper is the one people are 50/50 on now because we finished bottom 6, and handed GWS pick 8 who traded it to Adelaide who got Curtin. The Crows handed over picks 11, 15, and a future second-rounder while the Giants gave up Pick 8 and 17.
Plus pick 34 last year GWS chose Toby McMullin med-forward, 3 games.

A fully fit Hopper is a gun. Apart from Bolton, our midfield was looking a little bare as our guns dusty, prestia, and the retiring cotchin all getting on. Other mids, Sonsie, Ross, Dow and the inconsistent Graham we needed more high talent now. Did we give up extra for Hopper yes it now seems so but he was contracted so we needed to give more.

Look we gave up pick 19 for Yarran, he didn't play a game and we still went on to win 3 flags. One extra pick (top 10) yes, helpful of course but it wont be the difference on where we are at it in the next 2-3 years.

Instead we got a best and fairest winner and another that has won one at another club.
Yeah, I’m spewing we are not entering 2024 with a midfield of Prestia, Hobbs, Bolton, Graham, Sonsie and Dow…. really could’ve done some damage.

Not to mention Taranto and Martin, Ross might also find himself back in the guts.

We need a nick larkey type pick

West Coast at that opening pick has been linked to Peel Thunder ruck Mitch Edwards, who was overlooked by the likes of North Melbourne, Collingwood, St Kildaand Carlton. The latter two clubs, though, would consider Edwards if he slipped through on Tuesday night as they hold Picks 33 and 34 respectively.

But both the Saints and Blues, as well as West Coast, are also considering 194cm rebounding defender Arie Schoenmaker, who’s regarded as one of the best kickers in the draft class. Schoenmaker, like Edwards, had late first-round interest, but was still on the board on Monday night.

Key back Schoenmaker on Tuesday morning was strongly linked to St Kilda, which took hard running wing-midfielder Darcy Wilson and exciting small forward Collard with their two first-rounders the night before. Sandringham Dragons defender Ollie Murphy could also be in the Saints’ mix if they’re keen on a tall at Pick 33, although the Saints have closely looked at medium defender Tew Jiath and North Adelaide midfielder Kane McAuliffe in recent weeks. Both Jiath and McAuliffe have also been linked to Richmond.

Edwards (Fremantle), Jiath (Hawthorn) and Lual (Western Bulldogs) all have NGA ties. But their respective clubs don’t have bidding rights on them inside the top 40 — and as it stands, rival clubs expect all three players to be picked up within the first 10 picks on Tuesday night.

Schoenmaker is also an outside chance at Brisbane, which was one of several clubs to strike a night one trade with Gold Coast, packaging up multiple selections to help the Suns bank more points to match academy bids while acquiring the second pick of the second round, which is now Pick 31.

But multiple sources believe the Lions are looking to select a tall with that pick, with 203cm Gippsland Power forward-ruck Archer Reid strongly linked, especially after the Kangaroos took Wil Dawson with one of their three late first-round picks on Monday night.

Reid had also been linked to Collingwood at Pick 37. But Richmond, which is expected to look at a key-position player with one of its picks, will strongly consider Reid if he’s still available at Pick 35. Both the Pies and Tigers also have an interest in Western Jets goalkicker Logan Morris.

Geelong is being tipped to target outside run with its first second-round selection, which is Pick 32. Medium defenders Archie Roberts (Sandringham Dragons), Luamon Lual (GWV Rebels) and Angus Hastie (Geelong Falcons) are all in the Cats’ mix, while Rebels winger Joel Freijah will also come under consideration.

Freijah, who slid down draft boards throughout the year but has appealing size and explosive power for clubs, has also been linked to Richmond and Essendon. Yet those two clubs also like Lual – a speedy and balanced mid-sized defender who initially had first-round interest from the Giants.

Carlton (Pick 34) has also been linked to outside runners. Roberts will be strongly considered if he’s still on the board, while speedy yet composed Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Cooper Simpson also has interest from the Blues. Matt Carroll (Sandringham Dragons) and Billy Wilson (Dandenong Stingrays) have also been linked to Carlton.

Big-bodied GWV Rebels midfielder George Stevens remains an intriguing talking point among scouts. While there are question marks on Stevens’ athletic profile and whether he has AFL-level speed and agility, he’s a natural ball-winner, plays with great presence and is hard to push over in the contest.

Stevens could slide to Geelong’s second – or even third – pick, with Richmond and Essendon to also consider him.

He can spray it but more so at full speed. I have watched him just needs to slow down a bit, needs more composure when he kicks, which can be taught in the right environment.
Sounds like Ralphsmith mk2

Lots of talent left on the board, the next 6 or 7 picks tonight will be interesting, then throw in a couple
Of bolters and sliders including prospects that get snubbed as well. I know what I’m doing at 7.30pm.

Good luck to all!

Having a look at a few players that are available.

Zakostelsky has a bit to like about him.
Our WA man who I regard very highly will know.
I have no issue if we pick up any WA tbh.

Reckon Stevens is no good. Has Jack Graham build.

You do realise we have only missed out on one draft pic this year, and of course we have Hopper as compensation.

One first round draft pick will not make much difference to Richmond going forward.

We will have Gibcus back, with a little luck, and our 5 inside 30 picks from a couple of years back will all be ready to go mentally and physically. A few others will be pressing as well.

North are stocking up on talent because they have been bottom of the ladder for years, GC a step or two above them. That's how the draft works. If you win Premierships, you have to restock not rebuild, which is what we are doing.

You do realise the 5 picks was two years ago and one swallow does not make a summer.

Brown is looking likely, Gibcus hopefully recovers from his set back and the other three hopefully can contribute and progress. Three of those 5 where picks in the twenties and it is debatable they are rated higher than the those picked in the twenties this year last night.

Apart from Dusty and a few others with the odd diamond, RFC's list is hardly screaming draft top liners. The draft is not everything but talent helps

Not everyone hits the jackpot buying dragon cigarettes is more the point!

Or a Patrick Cripps build....
Stevens does look decent, but the only problem is that he’s apparently slow. We already have Hopper, Taranto, Ross, Graham, and Prestia in our midfield right now. Adding Stevens to our midfield might just about make it the slowest midfield in the league. Doesn’t bode well against teams that are adding speed like Collingwood and GWS.

Prestia looks like the only one that will retire in the next few years. Only way this pick will work is if we get rid of Graham in the next couple of years IMO.
