Kangaroos Draft Picks:
9
25
41
57
73

Okay, the 9th pick is the only one we're really looking forward to right now, and I am guessing these numbers will change a lot during trade week. But if we were to hold onto pick 9 which I think we will, some Draft Experts on BF have done the early Phantom Drafts and said we look like getting Gayfer. Can someone tell me about this player? Size, Attributes?

I beleive we had pick 24 considering carlton won't have rounds 1 & 2 in this years draft.

So that'll make it
9, 24, 40, 56, 72

Gayfer is a KP- back or forward.. (I think..)

192cm, 87kg for Gayfer.

Think I would prefer Dunn (if still around).. he sounds so much like a Shinboner.. tough etc..

Gayfer seems like a good prospect and there is a lack of quality KPP's this year, but if Riley Dunn or Brock McLean are available to us we'll take one of those with our first pick. From all reports we're after a tallish, skilled and robust onballer first up.

I certainly hope we do end up with Dunn.. or even McLean- who sounds good too:D Nice and tough- tallish:D

Just hope Wellsy doesnt hold grudges.. (or I hope that Dunn didnt scrag him to much)

You guys would be crazy to overlook Aaron Davey, he is an absolute superstar in the VFL at 20 years of age.

I hope we can get him at pick 20, I rate him that highly.

Would like to see him at North for excitement factor, but he's a poor man's Daniel Wells.

Quick, decent skills, fantastic to watch... but geez the little bastard is soft.

His ability to get away from opponents makes him valuable though. We've often heard that King, McLeod, Lonie, etc can run 50 and kick 50... this bloke can run 80 and kick 20 and therefore be as effective in theory at least... so picking him is not without merit.

One decent shirtfront and his career might be over, though. Confidence shot.

He is very talented, but wouldnt take him with our first pick.

Hopefully we can get him a little later..

Tim Harrington has said that the Roos were not going to be aggressive in the trade / draft period this year as they had a lot of young players to develop. Considering we have a top ten pick and the Davey name has not shown up on any of the phantom lists he could quite possibly be heading to Arden st.

Davey's an exciting player no doubt about that but,as I've mentioned before, selecting him would be a real indulgence and I doubt Deano will indulge us. Based on what I've seen (admittedly only 3 or 4 times on TV) I think he would shine brightly but shortly on the AFL stage.

Good effort, but I highly doubt we would overlook Tennace at #3. McLean will go higher also.

As for Davey, he reminds me of Daniel Wells. Slight, but super quick, very good skills and has a good defensive game. He has time to bulk up.

No idea, but at 191/84 and a growing boy he is certainly no jockey type.
Plays for the Calder Cannons who are undefeated in the TAC Cup this season.
Dylan Kent also plays for the Cannons.

isnt sylvia the guy who buggered his shoulder taking a massive mark on almost footy legends last week??

and as for andrew ericksen, he is tall sure, but is the most unco fool i have ever seen. if the ball doesnt land in his lap he wont get a possession. and is too skinny and doesnt have a good enough leap to make an impact in the hitouts at stoppages. may get drafted, but you kidding yourself if you think he will go at 11!!

Saw all three of these blokes play yesterday as the Bushies upset the Cannons. Dunn would be my pick of the three, although McLean was probably best on ground yesterday. Gayfer is a big kid, but he's just not a good enough footballer and shouldn't be a first round pick in my opinion.

I would love it if we picked up Sean Daly with a later pick, he'd be a great tallish on-ball option, very smart and uses the ball well, gets plenty of it as a centreman but can also (like yesterday) be used defensively on the opposition's best players, key position or on-ball.

Was also impressed with Cosgriff, he normally plays CHB but yesterday was excellent at full forward, hard leading and strong overhead.

Tenace didn't do much, he was limping around most of the match with what looked like a knock to his knee, don't know why they bothered leaving him on.

Jozeph...Harrington may have said that publicly but Laidley over the weekend also came out confirming that we WILL be participating in the trade week.

Quote from the JYD below...

“We’re working pretty hard to keep this group together, (but) we’re going to be involved in the trade week and in the draft camp, because the rules tell you that.

Suppose we can only wait and see just how heavily we get involved in the trading period.

re-draft

Hey Avenger good post!!

{are you Carlos the jackals love child-by chance?}

Personally happy to mould the kids we have
and top up on some more for the future years!

Height and speed are what we need!!

Davey will do me !
LAIDS seems to have the touch with these kids
Motlop-jnr for example!!

Time will tell but the Wells/Motlop/Davey
factor would be handy in the forward area!

agree with watts, my guess is he will go no. 7 to geelong or might survive til 8 and go to st kilda where his dad used to be president. chaplin is a real chance to go top 5, but i doubt melbourne will go for him at 3, maybe the dogs at 4 is more likely.

If anything, that backs up what Harrington said. Laidley's comments more or less say "we're participating because we have to".

I don't think we have much to trade to be honest - our fringe players don't have much value so we are better off keeping them if not traded, and the remainder of our list is satisfactory.

It's not the quality or talent of the list that has stopped us from playing finals this year, it's the fact that some of the guys who are under 21 are just that... under 21.

I think our deficiencies are not because players in those positions are crap, it's because they're young. Maybe a couple of "iffy" ones but nothing in need of wholesale changes (especially with not a lot to offer).

In three years time the list will look a lot more well-rounded, with some minor tweaking.

re-Darky

Darky your swilling that German beer again
my friend!

Dont take my constructive comments
re-Davey + D.Motlop and turn them
into Donut city!!(IM NOT THAT TYPE!!!)

My main point is for ever since
i can remember NM have been a
slow type of team!!

Give Sydney there due pre-dominately
based on speed thru all parts of the ground!

We have the opportunity to make a team
that phar lap couldnt catch!

Wells/Motlop/Davey-if drafted!

CAPISH!!
