Yep Loddon Valley shot. For the sake of Pyramid Hill and perhaps a Bridgey/Inglewood merger NCFL need to get on the front foot and offer them an alternative. AFLCENTRALVIC dont seem to have any clue/motivation to engage in future planning so the league can help themselves. In saying that perhaps Pyramid/bridgey/iwood have no inclination to go north. Just a thought. On a side note population decline starting to hit the area Bridgey wont field a cricket side in Upper Loddon this season reducing the comp to 4 sides Boort/Kingower/Arnold/Burn, Calivil cant raise a tennis side and Korong Vale Bowls have finished. Unless some proacyive thinking occurs footy will soon be in this boat in the area as well.
Look at the leagues that used to exist further north.
Northern Mallee Football League: (Ouyen, Mananganatang, Walpeup/Underbool, TGP, Sea Lake/Nandaly) ended up as a 5 team comp,
before the whole league merged with an 8 team comp in 1997
Southern Mallee Football League (Jeparit/Rainbow, Hopetoun, Beulah, Brim, Berriwillock/Calgoa, Nullawill, Yaapeet & Woomelang/Lascelles

Depressing that since then only Nullawill still exists albeit had to change leagues twice & Jeparit/Rainbow. All others have either merged & had to travel further to play or just folded. Kids move to Adelaide or Melbourne for work or school & seldom return, its been happening for decades & its nothing that the NCFL can do about it.

The jury is still out whether implementing a player player points & salary cap has worked in metro Melbourne but its killed off a lot of country leagues & teams/towns

Marty Hore ex Melb current Williamstown 4x VFL team of the year apparently signed at Birchip as his feeder club

Not sure if you've seen Birchips side the last couple of years, he might be the 4th highest paid player
Salary cap is a wonderful concept. Impossible to police. Perhaps we judge Birchip and a couple of others too harshly. The E-Mail they received may have said that 110k was a minimum spend.

If as it appears Birchip habitually breach the salary cap why hasnt something been done about it. what powers do the AFLCOUNTRYVIC have to investigate this apparent breach. Perhaps the Birchip treasurer should write a small book on how to navigate around the cap,Im sure most clubs would pay to find out how.

Good on birchip for fronting up every year tho with good sides on the park it’s good footy to watch win or lose.. sandhurst lost a good player to mallee giants didn’t they? And Bridgwater locals like Lee coghlan have gone back there his a star. Harry Conway and Walsh too. Bridgwater to win LVFL flag comfortably at this point
