Happy to pass on next weekend's fixture unless anyone is desperate to roll the dice

Don't let me down Hills, I think the Giants are ripe for the picking.
I went to Purser last night and yes, ONE4, Giants were ripe for the picking. Hills took it right up to them, especially after half time, and I thought the Giants were a bit lucky to get away with the win - especially when they had just about their best team on the paddock.
It was wet but the ground is in top condition and the skills and pace of NEAFL footy were on show.

On a different matter, I hadn't twigged that Qbn had two matches in different states within a few days....if the experts are reading it right, then it's no wonder that the Tiger boys are getting weary !

You are dead right Justabaraker, a big ask but the opportunity of playing in a game like that doesn't come around too often.
Eastlake were very fierce at the ball yesterday and deserved the win but a fair few of the players did look very weary at the end.
More injuries as well with Kirkwood doing a hamstring, Cavendon and Daniher missing (from the Tuesday night game) along with a very long list already out.
Going to be tough for the Tigers but the bye weekend will let some bodies have a well earned rest

How did the Eagles look Justabaraker? Their results have been less than impressive this year after finishing Top 5 last year. Have beaten Tuggeranong and Syd Uni and lost to all others by fair margins.

First up, there's no reason why my opinion should be worth much here - I saw your guys two or three times last year and this was my first outing this year. There will be others reading this who feel more qualified to comment (either in meaningful real-time or in their own minds !)

I thought they looked great. A lot fitter and capable of better pressure and running than the team that joined NEAFL last year. Haven't lost much talent in the off season, in fact, seem to have shed some unhelpful skins, and have gained two great "in-and-under leaders" in the two coaches. That's prob where the better fitness and pressure have come from. It's interesting that the nominated better players from Saturday night are mostly in-and-unders.
Ben Bourke is a far better fullback than he was last year and has improved his tank.
SHEagles named Steven Doyle as their best and that was a surprise....I reckon I've seen him play better games in the past for the club for inadequate recognition. Not sure how the politics of the club works when it comes to nominating better players.
I'd say, based only on Saturday night, that there were, maybe 17 legitimate NEAFL-quality players, and maybe 5 who made up the numbers. One, (possibly two), has stuff to learn about playing for the team rather than bagging out teammates when they don't make him look good.

Again, first time I've seen them this year and it's a bit surprising that they haven't won more games. But UWS was pretty average and you only play as well as the opposition lets you play. I saw Eastlake play early on in the season and I would have thought that SHEagles Saturday night would have beaten Eastlake from that early game...is it possible to compare performances like that ??

This is why I'm called "justabaraker" and not "the analyst who can talk from top level experience"

Any update on the final team for the rep game this weekend? I have heard a fair few have pulled out (as per usual) so some have been called up late. It's Wednesday and still nothing on the website. Pretty poor

I would expect they train tonight or Thursday night and team announced after training.

If that's the case then the website can't report on what is not known now can they.

Just read an article in the Canberra Times about Canberra Stadium and Manuka Oval both being closed for repairs, and new turf, at the same time. Canberra Stadium work starts after the Raiders finish and local junior rugby league finals are completed. But Manuka work starts in a month - 8 July - a couple of days after the next GWS game. Anyone know what the plans are for NEAFL, Div 1 and U18 finals. Will we be venturing back to the old Footy Park in Phillip the way Div 2 and 3 have in recent years? Or are finals heading to Sydney this year?

Back & looking for some footy
Even got the neafl on the footy tips app look forward to tipping some eastern conference teams next week
What is story with this draw & all the bye rounds
Where do uni play seems its henson or balmain who decides, I'm in eastern subs so most likely see them soon hope to catch others at swans or giants games though I don't know about the trip to homebush
How is Stubbs doing remember hearing about him as a junior thought he may have been one to crack it

A lot of community comps seem to have the bye on this long weekend - some play wet weather catch-up games and/or rep fixtures - NEAFL had a rep fixture.

I don't understand who decides where Syd Uni is to play, but you can be sure that it's not Balmain ! They might tell you that they do but....oh well.......

Welcome to our forum....hope you're not too good at tipping !
