Competition Need a New Look Logo

Nobody is getting ripped off here, a $50 voucher and a t-shirt or jumper is more than enough (it might actually be overs) for what are mostly recolours.

Just a repost of my entry with the spelling fixed up

Hi Guy,
Some of these are I am really liking the look of.So thankyou to all that have participated.I was thinking of letting it run for a couple of weeks, then take the best 4 to our next committee meeting.Hopefully out of the 4 the Board can decide on one. Thanks again

My logo:

Claw marks as the "V" on your guernsey, and added the date the club was founded.
What do you think CrawfKnights? It's alright if you don't like it :)

Do your original design with a red V with white scratches, this could also work for their jersey.

Just redid my logo a bit. Also, got bored so mocked up a jumper, for the fun it more than anything else.

Bunbury... lol...

But seriously, a $50 voucher for what? It's poor form to completely rip someone off. No matter how complimentary you are, not paying anything for talent, skill, and hard work is pretty poor.

$50 is not a bad offer for someone who isn't a qualified graphic designer just getting cash in hand. If they went to a professional designer yes it could cost a few thousand depending on the complexity of the work and what else they want. But lets be honest, most of the people on here and just people having fun with illustrator or photoshop. The only poor form around he appears to be coming from you.

But the money shouldn't be dependent on their occupation, it should be dependent on the finished work.

Regardless, this bloke has come on here wanting something for free. He could go to a graphic designer, but he'd rather con someone into doing it for free.

What if the footy club needed a new groundsman. There was a professional, but he cost $500 a week. Then there was a kid willing to do the same job for free. You're taking advantage of something of monetary worth, and getting it for free. If the kid didn't exist, the $500/week groundsman would get the job, so that's the worth of the job itself... it might not be illegal, but it's kind of shitty.

(Just proves again how naff Bunbury is as a town.)

I don't know who you are or if you have ever been associated with a football club, but football clubs hardly ever have money. Unless you have great sponsors with a lot of free coin you're always struggling for funding. I applaud him for using his initiative and asking on her, most people would be thrilled to claim they designed a logo for a football club.

Any dollar you can save can help somewhere else, it's not cheap running a football club and most never have enough money to get past paying players and keeping the lights on.

Sorry, but do you honestly think people are going to agree with you? Just a bit of fun, as all. If you have any hobbies, generally you're happy to do it to benefit others, regardless if cash is involved or not.

You're fighting a losing battle SA... Sorry.

Maybe it is because I am older than the majority of this board, and as such have more life experience, or maybe I just have no clue, but I disagree completely, and as such agree with Silent Alarm.

This may be a hobby for us, but that only applies to our designs that are for competitions and what if discussions. However when a person or club come on here asking for a specific design then they are basically contracting us (those who choose to) to design something for them. This is where in most cases we as designers should be "paid" for our time and effort as those who have asked are basically trying to get something that may cost them thousands of dollars going through a professional firm, done for nothing because we don't work in the industry.

This board is full of designers who could, nay, should be working in the design industry as they clearly have some skills, but be it for age, or the difficulty getting in to the industry, or even that they just don't want to do it professionally they aren't, but should not be treated as anything less than those who are. Thus anyone, with the possible exception of those who just want designs for muck about leagues, should be rewarding those who are taking the time and putting in the thought and effort to design something for them.

I have played for two footy clubs, and a soccer club, in two towns. I know how stringent budgets can be. But I also realise that clubs have to prioritise: Do you really need those jumpers with different stripes? Or do you need to do some serious work to the ground? A rebadge won't make or break your club, so if you don't have the money, don't get a new logo.

If he'd come on here and said "look, the budget's tight and we can't afford to pay someone," that'd be cool. Alas...

Let's all sit around, drink hot chocolate, and sing kumbaya... this isn't how the world works. What about bands? They're usually born out of boredom or a few unserious jams. Try getting Radiohead, a bunch of kids who made music in high school together, to play in your backyard for free – because, apparently, money doesn't matter if it's a passion.

You are essentially saying that hobbies and money are mutually exclusive.

Now you're just trying to spin it to make yourself look less rude and arrogant. If you had one ounce of respect for design you'd understand why he'd want his logo redone for the club.
