The issue for me is that it's ******* selfish. You know the club is struggling to put a team together and you know that if you go out to a crowded place where there's lots of of sweaty people in close together for hours on end then there's a fairly good chance you'll catch covid and fu** the team over.
100% it's selfish, but that's a reflection of the club culture for me IMO. Players aren't "buying-in" and the club's been too weak to do anything about it for a few years now. Stop gifting games to these campaigners and make them earn it through not only performance, but also attitude and preparation.

Oh, another melodrama in a porridge bowl!

Porridge stirring? I thought we weren't allowed to talk about Shepp and Venables anymore?

Just a quick note to all the ‘just as likely to catch it from a shopping centre/school/anywhere!’ folk…

Short of licking hand rails on public transport, attending Nightclubs is considered easily the highest risk activity for COVID infection by health professionals.

It’s basically the best way to get it if you are keen.

Just ask Jackson Nelson.

I do think the boys should be allowed to blow off steam after a loss - even with mates from the oppo team. I agree dancing in a club was a f***ing stupid thing to do if you are trying to avoid catching covid and they should maybe have just had a few quiet ones at the Leederville Hotel or whatever exists there now.

Simmo has a right to be angry as - given how fast omicron can spread - he may well have caught it off Nelson.

I completely agree that the boys should be able to go out, provided they use their common sense.

Especially considering:

  • we can’t field a team
  • they have team rules about what they can/can’t do after hours
  • they went to a high risk venue
  • there are still 9/10k daily cases
  • no masks
  • they are paid tens of thousands of dollars to play footy for 22 weeks a year, surely they can let loose in the remaining 30 weeks or so. Go for a few bevs at an outdoor pub etc
  • they are role models for young boys and girls. Not a great look.

They were probably still chasing the hot Richmond runner…

Fringe players like Nelson & Rotham..they seem to be knuckleheads that are unaware how close they are to being cut end of year.
Reading the tone of the club/list changes as well as they read the play gameday. FFS.

Nelson could get a depth role at a Norf type club. Rotham has fallen off a cliff this year, got to be one of our most disappointing so far.

No probs if Nelson gets that elsewhere, still a bit of a knucklehead thing to do....getting covid, out this week, just amplifies it.
\Never been down on Nelson like others, it just seems a silly thing to do in his position/club circumstances

I don't know how the senior players could lecture on selfishness !

It was the senior players and Simpson who cracked the shits because they were put out during the Hubs and the younger players who embraced it .

How would you feel . Young player can't get a regular game due to entitled older players getting games on reputation not form . Playing like shit and still getting a game .
