I really didn't intend for this thread to be a serious downer thread. Mainly to discuss some of our anxieties and some relief by discussions.Ibuprofen or aspirin is a far safer alternative.
Paracetamol and alcohol is the number one cause of liver failure I believe. Paracetamol causes strain on your liver and when you factor in the alcohol it can push it over the limit.
But yes, if you're talking seriousness, alcohol and panadol can be not good for the liver in very high concentrations. You mentioned liver damage/failure, but it's not going to happen unless it's a serious binge episode, or if doing it daily for long duration of time.
However, you failed to note that ibuprofen and aspirin can cause stomach irritation, gastritis and stomach ulcers. The same issues can arise from alcohol also. Which means, alcohol doesn't really mix with any pain killers in high doses!
Bottom line, drink responsibly. Drink to enjoy, but don't drink to get knocked out, or to get liver damage!
