Hey Ross,
Just wondering whether you guys got rid of that horrible issue that plagued the last AFL game...I'm talking about the infamous "smother-fest". You couldn't run 5 metres without having to worry about a guy smothering the footy when you kicked it. It made for a really unenjoyable playing experience.

This development is from the ground up - there is no relationship between the previous versions and ours.

Hey Ross i have a question not about the game play or anything but more about when the release date is actually set, alot of gaming companies give out bonus stuff for pre-orders, like codes for special content or special freebies not particularly related to the video game itself, can we expect something special for a pre-order and if so can you tell what we will get?

I can't say, but the track record of the publisher is that pre-orders do indeed get a bonus. For example, Rugby League Live has a free football for those ordering from EB.

Ah yeah, I gathered that. Man, it was horrible not being able to play on.

I, personally, think you guys would be mad not to sell this game during the finals. The hype of footy around Australia is crazy during finals, the advertisement you could get in would be crazy. Then you have to think about Christmas right after, you'd be watching the money roll in. But who am I to tell you when to sell it?

Just a question Ross, when playing previous games I find the gameplay to become rather repetitive and boring.

Example in AFL Live 2005, win the ruck, midfielder boots it forward to the 'right' spot and the Forward marks. After that the set shots were incredibly easy to master.

With this game, will the gameplay be more complex? What I mean is lets say, if I am playing as Geelong and Ablett, Ling, Bartel, Corey are just dominating the clearances and forward fifty entries, would the opposition implement a tactic to get back into the match? Such as flooding or zones? or will the midfield 'tag' a midfielder running riot? I know these are difficult gameplay features to include, but this is what made the previous games from other developers frustrating. Also would the ball cover a decent size of the field so the Right back pocket player doesn't have 1 handball while the ruck rover has 32 disposals?

Cheers, also appreciate the effort Big Ant have gone through to communicate with people that will support the game.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for all the new info, it really does sound like an amazing game and will definitely be received quite well amongst our fans since basically everything you could want in this game..gameplay-wise is in and more.

I did have 2 questions which I'm not sure have been answered yet:

1. Once a player is moved to another team, will his shoe colours change from the previous team's colours to the new team's colours (For instance in the Buddy pic his shoes have some brown there, if he was to move to Carlton would they be blue)?

2. Secondly, I realise we cannot edit the players themselves but can we edit player jersey numbers (For instance Ablett from 29 to 5) and it just swaps with the other player?

Thanks

Hey Ross,

In the FAQ it says that if we want to create a new team we can just create the team and move the player across. My question is will the player duplicate or will he only move across?

E.g. NBA 2K10 the player duplicates so he stays on his original team (Lakers, Magic, Cavs, Heat, whatever) as well as being on your created team.

On the other hand FIFA 07 had a create a team but you could only move the player across. E.g. I created Ivory Coast and wanted to have Drogba on the team but it was one or the other and since i play with the clubs more I ended up leaving him on chelsea and scrapping the idea of making an Ivory Coast team seeing as I wanted to be able to use those players with their club teams.

I understand if you can't answer this and in any event your information has been fantastic and greatly appreciated

Cheers

You'd assume the FIFA variant, the 2K10 thing sounds just stupid.

Not really. For instance I created the USA team and it allowed me to create Team USA as well as leave the players on their usual club teams which is what I personally would prefer.

This would allow people to create a state of origin team or a dream team or whatever without affecting club lists and then if you made a real life team such as the GC or GWS (Assuming they're not in the game already) and wanted to move say Ablett for example to the Gold Coast if he went there then you would create the GC team and then either trade Ablett across to the GC or duplicate him and just cut off the Geelong list like Ross says you can in the FAQ.

I've actually found the opposite problem in past AFL games, in that you'll get a Full Back or Back Pocket getting 30-35 disposals (when in real life they'd get 10-15), and a midfielder only getting 5-10 (when in real life they'd get 25-30). I've also found in the past that wingmen struggle to get the ball (possibly due to formulaic tap-rove-kick forward gameplay), and usually average 10 or less disposals per match.

"traded" or really in this sense players "swapped" to another team will have perfectly legitimate (as licensed) jumpers, socks, shorts. Players are modelled the same regardless of team.

Not too sure what you mean either? Hopefully that answers it?

Hey mate, sorry it was late at night. :)

What I mean is say we swap Ablett to Adelaide, will his look in the Adelaide attire look as good as he does in Geelong attire.

Is there a limit to how many teams we can create?

First with the news, this guy.

Still a baffling question. What the hell else is he going to look like?

I guess if he goes to Collingwood he'd need to look like he hasn't showered for a month and punch a few of his teeth out...but still what exactly is the answer you're looking for? Ross gave it as good as he could for such a confusing question.

I think that guy thinks that when the players are created, they are created with the guernsey on, if that makes sense

like, they made 2 buddy's, one with hawks clash and one with hawks home, and if he was traded to say, west coast ;), they wouldnt have made a west coast buddy and the jumper wouldnt look as good
