Ah waiting for a video game to come out, it's waiting for GTA 4 to come out on PC all over again :(.

And I'm assuming due to a strong Australian userbase, the online Multiplayer will be basically lag-free for us? If it runs off matchmaking you'd assume that'd be the case.

To be honest now the release date doesn't bother me as much as it did 3 weeks back. We got 12 screens in the period of a month and most people, including me assumed that the game was near release because of the screens and how they looked and so on. Whether Grand Final week this year or Pre-Season next year I will still play this game for hours and hours on end and if waiting means more updated lists and updated players models and stats then I'm all for that.

Chances are there won't be anyone playing overseas. Maybe a few expat Aussies, and they probably won't go online due to the very big lag they will get

It should, by all accounts be a lag free experience

Be interesting to see how Rugby League Live performs, as this should be a pretty good indicator

Some dedicated 8 slot servers would actually be good for the way this game would be played, but to be honest that's just my anti-matchmaking bias, coming from a dislike of Modern Warfare 2 :p.

Will it just be independent online with player hosting or Games For Windows Live, or dedicated servers? The FAQ didn't answer much about the online service for PC.

im considering getting rugby live, due to the fact as i want to see what the gameplay is like. and what the online features are like as the online experiance should be about the same as the afl game. even tho i rarely watch rugby.

im with you on that, i wanna be up their in online rankings!

I was hoping the game would come out this year but with the Crows there's so many changes to the team already I would have to spend a bit of time getting the roster right. My gut feeling is next year, first week of the home and away season. Although I hope it will come out this year it's not looking very likely at this stage.

I think the Rugby gameplay looks good and the tackles looked impressive so I am hoping AFL will follow suit.

Hopefully its released this year. I think its crap that they'd release the rugby game this year but not the AFL one. One can only hope though.

Be Kinda wierd if it was released next year. It would already be out of date. lol. Aaaah well :)

I still think it'll be released next year. IMO it'd be stupid to release it this late in the year. As soon as footy finishes most people's interests turn to cricket and an AFL game wouldn't sell well around that time. Bring it out a few weeks before the NAB Cup next year and they'll walk off the shelves.

Sure, Big Ant would have to model the new draftee's faces but given they've already done every player, a few more couldn't be that difficult.

I'd far prefer the game to be released next year with up to date rosters including all trades, delistings, draftees and the Gold Coast.

I remember Ross saying that there will be no more screen shots until the press release which I think means the game will be out sooner than later. Imagine not being able to show pictures of the game for 6 months after just showing us numerous pictures within the last month. Doesn't really make much sense to me, considering the hype they have built up would be forgotten about over summer.
I predict that we will see a press release for this game in the next week and a half, with the game being released last week of finals. The amount of hype around this game, particularly here, will be enough for a four week promotion during the biggest weeks on the AFL calender to be successful. Fingers crossed.

Ross, if the game is going to be released next year, can you show us snippets of all the retired players after the press release?

This or next year, the game will still sell a lot and will be received with good reviews I think. People have been waiting since 2006 for a new AFL game and waiting a bit longer for better additions will only make us crave the game more.

He also said the press release would most likely be before next Thursday, not six months away.

i cant see this happening, it would be a bad mistake releasing rugby league and afl within a month of each other. I would happily get both games, but if they come out around the same time then i will only have enough money to be purchasing one of them.

PSP game AFL challenge was released 2 days after NRL challenge... they are both tru blu games aswell, makes u wonder...

I aint buying the rugby game but i will be buying AFL when ever it is released. The boys that work for me have said the same thing there hanging for it. I think when ever they release they will get similar amount of sales and like other ppl on here id rather it now and play all off-season to give me my footy fix.

The Press Release can come out anytime between now and when the game is potentially released (although it will most definitely be out by the end of next month and worst). Once that's released (and depending on when the games release date is) there will be a steady stream of screenshots and information. Regardless of a 2010 or 2011 release.

It's not like they're going to go on a complete media blackout (again) with absolutely no info or screenshots until the game is released.

LOL yeah cause he's going to answer that now.
those games can barely count as games though. they were bloody stupid
Well despite the quality they still count as a looking point to how Tru Blu work with their business plan and releasing games.

It should be noted though that NRL Challenge was only released in 2 states (NSW & QLD) and AFL Challenge (IIRC) was released in 4 (Vic, WA, SA, Tas?). So a slightly different situation there as they were being sold JUST for their certain markets. Both Rugby League Live and AFL 2010/2011 will be Australia wide releases.
