Without Chad and Kane there it seems the leaks have been plugged for now.

They were tweeting Phil Walsh's name incessantly when discussions were on.

If we let Matthew Knights near this football club I am absolutely done with it.

Surely the Magpies experience would keep us well away from him. I really hope the rumour that we're even talking to him is wrong.

Pagan.
Yes.
- 2 Time premiership coach
- 3 Time grand final appearances.
- AA Coach 1999
- Creator of Pagan's Paddock (Butcher anyone?)
- Coached an irrelevant team for an irrelevant amount of time.

Matthew "Ruddy" Knights.
No.

Mark "Ruddy" Harvey.
Yes.

Knights is a rude prick and a bad coach and most importantly, not a Port Adelaide man, not a drop of our spirit in his blood! Not to say there is a lot of it going around the club atm but.......

Wrinkles & Stupid, the most respected and reliable names in AFL media, suggest we are talking to Matthew Knights. Just seconds after they suggest Adelaide would try to put a spanner in the works of a Brad Ebert to Port trade by offering their last pick in the last few minutes of trade week ... and people take the bait and want to jump off a cliff.

Do Not Feed The Trolls !

Rowe reckons Matthew Knights and Denis Pagan are among the candidates (also mentioned Mark Harvey and Gary Ayres).

He says AA put a call thru to Port but Port aren't commenting on names or where discussion is placed.

There is no way that Port would employ Matthew Knights again.
There is no way that Matthew Knights would work for Port again.

If he DOES somehow end up at the club, then I'm not sure the club is still Port Adelaide.

Here's hoping that this is just a case of Spudly thinking he's funny by making up ridiculous rumours.

how matty knights scored the essendon gig in the first place was mindblowing .... coz he left the magpies on such great terms "insert sarcasm emoticon"

Ayres is the preferred candidate among the names mentioned

2-3 years is too long?

It will actually be 5 years next year, which is an eternity when it comes to coaching philosophys, and can be argued his last couple of seasons with carlton he was out of his depth.
Was a great coach, but Im sure there are better current coaches than denis pagan.

If those two jerks mentioned Knights then it's pretty much guaranteed that it won't happen :thumbsu: I wouldn't object to the others having a role though, plenty of outside experience that the club can tap.

Sorry to intrude guys, but as you probably all know, Cornes & Rowe know nothing. For all of the names they throw around for jobs they haven't got one right. So the talk of Knights would be another in the list of complete crap.

Ayres would be a great get. As would Harvey. Both guys have great experience and would add some excellent background insight and knowledge.

Do you think there is any chance you might look back to some young guys that have worked with you in the past, such as Ben Wilson? Worked with you and then to Norwood as an assistant with Bassett in 2010.

Would that type be any chance or would 'name' assistants be the go?

Ling would be an cool skills coach, teaching our kids how to be Mongrels. Yet he's also used the word "humble" about 100 times in the last few days. :thumbsu:

With a young playing group, we need a disciplinarian on our coaching panel. Someone the players would be s#^t scared of. Would have thought Pagan and Ayres fit the bill.

Pagan was held in the same esteem Malthouse is now when he was headhunted by Carlton, only to discover he had no decent draft picks with which to rebuild the league's shittest list not 5 minutes after he walked through the door.

Was an elite Under-19 coach before moving up the ranks too - we could do far worse in the assistant role.

Would hope that Bassett would consider a position as welol as Harvey and Ayres, I also think that A Jarman has a lot to offer as well as B Phillips, what is Wilson back ground apart from what you have stated.
