... because he couldn't get the cattle.

Pagan had nearly 5 full seasons at Carlton to produce these losses:

Rd1 2003 Sydney 74pts
Rd9 2003 Brisbane 77pts
Rd15 2003 West Coast 116pts
Rd17 2003 Collingwood 73pts
Rd20 2003 StKilda 91pts
Rd21 2003 Hawthorn 74pts
Rd22 2003 Kangaroos 124pts

Rd6 2004 Melbourne 105pts
Rd10 2004 StKilda 108pts
Rd15 2004 Port Adel 83 pts
Rd20 2004 West Coast 62pts

Rd7 2005 Richmond 85 pts
Rd8 2005 Geelong 70pts
Rd14 2005 West Coast 77pts
Rd15 2005 StKilda 80pts
Rd21 2005 Essendon 99pts

Rd6 2006 Collingwood 72pts
Rd8 2006 StKilda 92pts
Rd9 2006 Adelaide 64 pts
Rd14 2006 Geelong 65pts
Rd22 2006 Sydney 92pts

Rd2 2007 Geelong 78pts
Rd4 2007 West Coast 61pts
Rd12 2007 Hawthorn 100pts
Rd13 2007 Fremantle 77pts

The support for Pagan on the back of this appalling record is baffling.

Waspy I'm not necessarily a supporter of Pagan but to deny the impact of the penalties handed to Carlton for Salary Cap breaches during his tenure is just silly.

From Wikipedia:
On-field, the club had fallen from playing finals in 2001 to winning its first ever wooden spoon in 2002, after the retirements of many champion players from the 1990s. The loss of draft picks came at the time when the club needed them the most to rebuild its playing list. This resulted in the worst extended period of on-field performances in the history of the club. In the six seasons between 2002 and 2007, Carlton finished last three times, and five times in the bottom two. It was not until 2009 that the club had rebuilt its list sufficiently to return to the finals.[3]

Pagan was on a hiding to nothing taking that gig, through no fault of his own. His star players consisted of Anthony Coulda-woulda-shoulda-fides and Lance "Where's the pies?" Whitnall.

Thanks GP for the heads up:thumbsu:

Lol just lol. If knights ends up at port i wont be re-signing.

I hate this sort of stuff - stick with your team no matter what

i was told that Max Rooke's name was also mentioned - thats right out of left field.... whats he been up to lately?

Yeah from what I've heard about Rooke, he'd be a great get as a low-level guy.

You've lost me there

They said that yesterday, and also that the Crows were going to bid for Brad Ebert. Pure trolling and they know it.

Rooke's name was mentioned as he's apparently currently staying at an Adelaide hotel. They couldn't work out whether he was here due to, A) His close relationship with Garry Hocking, or B) His relationship with Brenton Sanderson.

What is clear is that the info line to these two out of Alberton has all but dried up. And their sole source of information now seems to be via listener text messages..........and ofcourse, Ralph.

If he was here to speak to the crows they would know about it via the Triggyline and wouldn't say a word for fear of alerting Port.

It's interesting isn't it.

Given the story about Laidley's snipe at Kornes at training, it makes you wonder about how many at the club have the same feeling about both of GraGra's boys.

It's a sad way for the story to end but my gut feeling is this is the pain that was needed to go forward. Much like ripping the band-aid off quickly. (Well as quickly as a 3yr contract allows.)

Are you a Primus sympathiser?

Given that he inherited a shallow list of talent at a club bent over a financial barrel, operating understaffed and the pawn in a power play between the AFL and the SNAFL and shafted in the draft by concessions given to 2 new franchise sides, yes, I have a lot of sympathy for Primus.
Do I think he can coach? I don't know.

I have the same thoughts about Primus but they would change if after 5 years all he could show for his work was Michael Mansfield, Mick Martyn and Multiple Maulings.

I think you are right about Gra Gra's source of information drying up. On the radio tonight I caught a snippet in which he said that Port owed it to their supporters to provide an update on assistant coaches. Then they were talking to Caroline Wilson who just seem to feed Gra Gra by saying it must have been a slap in the face that Bailey didnt sign with us.

Strange thing is this, when reading the draft wrap up on www.afl.com.au, they mention Port Adelaide had the biggest posse there - only rivaled by Brisbane Lions.

Now am not sure who they were (for all I know, we could have rented a crowd as a show of strength), but at least we had a presence!

Now all we need are the signings please...and I really want to push the mob across the road into the ground next year & that includes Bailey. I used to feel charitable towards him when he was with Melbourne, but now the gloves are off.

Also, still waiting on the email reply from KT. Should be interesting.

On one of the clips on the AFL website, I reckon I saw Buddha sitting next to Buckley, which was worrying!

So yeah, all eyes are there, and if Buddha is there it might be that they're specifically comparing players they expect to be available with the guys already on the list. Perhaps comparing ruckmen with ruckmen.

I hear he is here for some sort of unofficial role with a Camp Quality event tomorrow. Seems somewhat coincidental, he (along with Milburn) has been linked with Sando from the appointment.

I also hear MKnights is def in town, my partner swears she saw him. As a Maggies fan I guess she'd recognise him but it's hardly solid, make of that what you all will I guess. He could be here for Glenelg interview.

That would be fantastic. Kane Cornes and Matthew Knights are peas in a pod.
