Surely you jest?

not joking, there's a thread on the rumour over there, and with Sumich to Freo some wit suggested both their clubs deserved to be red carded for trolling LOL

deserves a mention here because he could be one of our AC candidates.

Carry's always swatted away coaching speculation. He seems to be happy being Port's media ambassador while pursuing his employment options.

But yeah I would like to see him in a development role. Tough, hard, uncompromising and Port through and through.

Was involved in the finance industry I think. Wonder how those Greek government bond derivatives are looking ? Ah well he's always got the footy industry to fall back onto.

Certainly remaining tight-lipped. Hope its not because there actually isnt anything to leak

I basically don't believe that statement! Especially if as Ford wrote in his Rohde interview on 5aa thread that the club made a list of 150 possible assistants. Knights I am happy not to have talked to but to not talk to and at least consider Ayres is rubbish.

I agree and I also like the statement but we can't be sure on the style and mix of coaches that we are going for. Perhaps that is why Ayres was ruled out early.

I wouldn't have minded Ayres as a defensive coach, but overall that article is good news. I'm much more anti-Knights than I am pro-Ayres.

I'm very much in favour of the idea of bringing Mark Harvey in though, I think he's an underrated coach who got massively screwed over at Freo (replaced by a massively overrated one), and that it'll bite Freo in the arse. If he was hanging around at Alberton, then it looks like their loss could be our gain. If we get him I'll be happy, if we get him and Watters I'll be thrilled.

Keeping the trolls at bay with nice strong language. I like it.

I must say, I'm feeling much more confident after reading that. Both with the coaching appointments as well as Keith Thomas.

Que?

What has changed? Still nothing. Other clubs are keeping their supporters up to date with appointments. Our admin are still saying nothing.

Oddly, most of what has come out in the media this evening was said by Rhode on 5DoubleCrow earlier. It seems that all leaks to anyone, including Rucci, really have been stopped.

i heard on sen that ayres was going for the director of coaching position

That role seems to be an ego stroke for failed coaches, ala Mumbles, or for those who no longer have the hunger, ala Bomber Thompson.

For those who are worried no Ayres or Knights

Thank ****ing christ all****ing mighty

The club has issued a statement to reassure supporters.

As a longtime lurker in these forums (and even longer suffering Port fan) it's sad to say how much I needed to hear this from the club. It's tough to enough to handle the state of the club at the moment..... the uncertainty around these signings just compounds things. When you are worried about your club being gazumped by Richmond in signing Steve Morris and are asking why Gary Ayres wasn't considered as an assistant coach, you know you are in trouble.

Heres hoping for nothing but good news in the next few weeks.

If you are a "longer suffering Port fan" you cannot be a long time Port fan.

The drought from 1966 to 1976 was bloody bad, but after that we have had plenty of good times, even excusing 1984, or the semi arid time from 1982 till 1987.

If you have come onboard only since 1997, then maybe I can understand your comment, but still, 2004 was an antidote of epic proportions.

Josh Carr apparently tight lipped according to crowie. Dev role? Yes please.

Seem to be a few rumours around about Carry. Maybe he has changed his mind.

let me tell you '83-'87 felt drier than semi-arid at the time. may our current drought (including the lack of assistants) break as fruitfully as the '82-'87 drought did. it's always that combination of someone from the outside and someone from the 'inside'. since big bob arrive from normwood really.

Wow, defensive much. It's all relative isn't it, long means different things to different people. Just implying I have been suffering longer than I have been frequenting the bigfooty boards. 2004 seems like a long time ago now, and since our record setting grand final appearance (let's say since the prelim), there hasn't been to much that is really positive.

He has? I remember late last year him working with the SA U18's and saying he had to prepare for life after football, with coaching a real interest of his.

Carry was asked about coaching a few times during his radio work on 5AA and every time said he was happy pursuing his work and wasn't interested in coaching.

Wonder if we're a chance to get Hinkley if Watters gets the Saints job?

I reckon we've made a bet each way so we'll get one of watters or hinkley or maybe both. Probably just wishful thinking.
