I can't help but wonder if Pearce would have acted like a tough guy towards Lobotomy if he wasn't Captain
Moose has never been shy about a bit of back and forth, I highly doubt it would've been much different if Brayshaw or Serong had the title instead

What concerns me is where his head is at tbh. I remember last year McKay was asked about Carlton making finals and he said even if they don't make finals they'd consider the year a success because they have improved - they went on to miss finals.

I got the same vibe when Pearce talked about heading to Tasmania should they join the competition a few weeks after being named captain.

I don't think he has the ferocity/killer instinct required.

I reckon it should be Serong.

Sam Sturt was acting like a tough guy towards Lobb. Wagner too. Also Pearce started with a bump to the chest of Lobb which I see our defenders do to their opponents 90% of the time before the start of games. The Dogs players just retaliated back, which is why it turned into a whole thing.

The second time was after he swung darcy into the ground after he got a free kick. That would've started another biff regardless of who the player was.

Nah pretty sure Lobb instigated by saying something to Sturt which set him off. But I like seeing that in Sturt, shows that he isn't soft.

Again. IANW - Serong is driving standards onfield, he has the dog in him.

Pearce isn’t it & Brayshaw is a sheepdog.

Give it to Caleb & then see if teammates follow in. Disaster at the moment.

I said back in Aug 2020 that when the time comes Serong could probably swoop Brayshaw for captaincy. Would love to see if there was an earlier fan of Serong being our captain than me.

I've lost count of how many times this season I've seen Serong go upto a player on the field who makes an error or loses a contest down back to reassure them all is good. Walking to huddles and changerooms he's the most lively too. Why the **** is he doing this down back instead of Pearce?

He's our best player, standing up as our only real visible leader on-field and a shining light (alongside Switta & Walters) in an otherwise terrible year where everyone else from the football department down to the players seem completely lost and void of direction.

He should be captain and Brayshaw vice. Thank you Pearce for taking the heat ala Mundy, but you are useless in this role.

I'm not sure if this has been covered yet, but i will touch on it anyway.

The Pearce appointment too me shows a complete lack of leadership at the club from the very top that has now fed down.

It is pretty evident to everyone that the two "leaders" at this football club at AB and Serong. The club in my view didn't have the balls to make one the captain over the other so they effectively kicked the can down the road by making Pearce captain.

I voted Brayshaw in this poll. Nothing against Pearce, I just reckon the leadership needs to come from the heart of the team. The middle. More effective, especially when you are losing a game. Pearce can't help the mids, and he certainly can't rally the forwards. All he can do is huddle the defenders and say, 'f*** that was bad. We are under seige. Pucker your butts and get ready for more of that'. He can't course correct. And our young forwards have no idea what Pearce is saying. 😬

I think they protected AB and Serong knowing that we might be about to go through a couple of tough years and instead pushed the older more experienced guy forward to see us through. In hindsight, it was a terrible decision for Fyfe to step away, but perhaps he could see the tought times coming too!

I don't think anybody saw the times ahead.
But with brayshaw slowing down from an injury I would hate to see him holding the basket at this time.
Serong is the next captain anyway.

My biggest reservation is the fact that he's not clean, doesn't do enough basics well.

I't got to be hard to follow a dude that can't stay on his feet, pick up the ball or kick reliably. Your captain doesn't need to be the best player but they can't be part of your Benny Hill troupe either.

I thought it was obvious we were going to drop back into the next bracket of teams. I didn't think we were going to drop two brackets.

I predicted a 7-12th finish. We are looking at a 11th - 14th finish.

Ben King kicked 5 over the weekend. Didn't do that against Pearce, for all his faults this year.

For all the s**t that we are saying about Moose

Our midfield is getting SMACKED every game

Who can be 100% sure that we aren't sitting in either a brayshaw or serong thread talking s**t if they were picked?
Nah difference is Serong has been leading by example and best on field since round 1. You always see him communicating on the field, congratulating players when they perform, being vocal etc. You cannot get more obvious captain material right there. I am convinced people want Bae as captain because he is arguably a better player (just not this season).
