Luke Ryan posted a pic on Instagram last week of Pearce on the flight back from Melbourne. The players were teasing him in the comments (including Bobby Hill), but the poor guy looked so spent and with the weight of the world on his shoulders. His chat after tonight's game was incredibly moving.

He has improved his first quarters and the team has gone with him. He had a couple of iffy one's early in the year but tonight he was a rock in the first. Influential.

Credit to the man. He seems to be growing into the role and his form has been much improved this year on last year!

Now that we are mid season, I couldn't think of a better leader and role model

I had my doubts about Pearce last year. Didn’t want him captain at all. But he has proven me very wrong. This season he has been in great form and shown himself as a great captain too.

I was in the same boat he appeared to be an introvert outwardly and I was worried it would detract from his game.

I was wrong and he has taken his game to the next level and he has obviously earned the respect of the team and the players are playing for him.

Hopefully this isn't the last we've seen of him as captain. But it's not looking good for this year. Keep everything crossed that he's back by finals as he's arguably in our top3 most important players.
