Choco's far too old, Lyon too old and Clarkson getting close. Voss or Scott for mine.

Should wait until season's end unless the players have rejected Teague.

June 6 = D-Day. D-Day for Teague Day?

It wasn't that hard. Dead wood assistants like John Barker should have been cleaned out, and if Teague was the winner for the job, someone senior should have been appointed to assist. Simply changing the bloke at the tope from someone with no senior coaching experience (Bolton) to a bloke with no senior coaching experience (Teague) was never going to work. Further, they coached at both ends of the pendulum - one coached with the future in mind while the other is coaching for the now to the detriment of the future. Horrific coaching set up led by poor management up top. Carlton gonna be Carlton.

Bolton had the right attitude but wasn't the right coach; never quite got the balance of wining versus development right and didn't build that gritty hard-working culture modern teams require.

Prioritise defense and youth, build around the U25 cohort without gutting the senior list.

For me, I'd think Voss is the one. Right age to be a decade long coach, has extensive experience, should have learned from his mistakes at Brisbane. Bring in a few experienced assistants along with him.

Carlton are a big club in a fairly strong financial position, absolutely no excuse they're rolling out the assistant coaches they are.

It's very Essendon under Knights; a club not willing to invest in their coaching setup.

Bolton was doing well when they had Neil Craig as the senior support. Agree that he was too defensively and youth focused, but 13 wins in the first two seasons suggested he was tracking well. He struggled to find the balance and that was his undoing, but losing that senior mentor and not replacing him was poor work from the Club.

Whether it is Voss or Leppitsch or someone else, I think the candidate will need to have some senior coaching experience and be strong enough to dictate their terms for coming across. Time will tell.

Fagan would have been perfect for Carlton, but as as already been pointed out many times changing the coach won't solve the issues at Carlton. They need a new group to lead the club. But we all know it won't happen for a very long time.

Easy to sack the coach but the Blues list management in recent times is odd. Big money for half back flankers when midfield depth is weak.

You would assume they would go with someone experienced as the last two have been rookie coaches. Possibly do a handover (eg. like the Roos/Goodwin arrangement).

Alternatively they could keep the coach and sack the assistants. However given the restrictions on the soft cap for clubs any departures would eat into that.

I hope they go Lyon, despite the fact certain factions on the Freo board will be intolerable if he does well.

Even though I thought his time was up with us and we needed a fresh start, he's the sort of coach who can make an immediate, material improvement to a club lacking a bit of ticker.

Honestly he really hasn’t missed too much with covid shortening the season last year and obviously this will be the first full season he misses. He seems like a very switched on bloke. You can tell on footy classified or triple m he still has a passion for coaching. I reckon he’d be eyeing off the Carlton job. He’d do wonders for them IMO. Their list is sortve similar to the saints 07 list.

The issue I have with Lyons is he suffers from the same issue as choco. Too smart for their own good and disrespectful to others.

They are better served behind the scenes as choco has found success in.

Im more interested in the assistant coaches. The assistants are a joke at best. All have no experience and Barker needs to go. It would best for him and the club.

Bolton had a couple of years but in a well run team which was properly set up. He hadnt been involved in a rebuild. He probably needed to have switched clubs first as an assistant.

Assistants from well run programs are highly sought after. Clubs want assistants who coached under Clarkson, Malthouse, Roos, Hardwick etc.

Maybe that line of thinking is outdated. I'm a fan of assistants spending time as VFL/SANFL/WAFL coaches.

I say this with no actual knowledge but just wondering........ do any Carlton supporters feel the club's woes may be in any way connected with John Elliot hanging around the place for far too long, screwing with the culture?

Don't forget Jeanie Pratt and the Matheson family.

The club culture has been destroyed by these types of people.
