I'm scared with the promoting from within... cough cough Meehan

Would you believe him or bloke from marketing were the best two candidates possible?

Are we a big club in the best sporting league in the country?

We are simply not acting like it.

I would argue that if the best possible candidate is sitting next to BG office, it would prove we are the best club in the country.

Understandable I guess but just because one seemingly hasn’t worked out doesn’t mean all internal appointments will be the same

It’s not like Dunne is just the coffee boy or anything he’s already done some very impressive stuff within the organisation in his own right in the same job essentially

I’m optimistic about the appointment at this stage

I'm not a believer in we would have the best man for the job sitting at our club right now.

Dunne is a gun, much prefer him to the other internal applicant

Can hit the ground running, looks and talks like a ceo with the runs on the board

Every club in the land would die for what we have, a $70m business with no connection to football or pokies

Dunne has been a central part of that for years

Solid Appointment,

and he is Emmet's son, so Richmond royalty, tigers in his blood

Shane Dunne is about to move from a feel good role that had the great benefit of riding the club's wave of success backing him, to running the club itself. Hmmm.....we will see what he is made of, because he is going to cop public flak and it won't all be feel good, and now he doesn't have a juggernaut backing him, he is in charge of running a rebuilding club.

Good luck son, you might need it.

Thought he’d be the ceo, there had been a soft launch with the aligned leisure piece and then sitt8ng next to gale and o’roukre at the match.

His resume is pretty strong and would indicate he is capable of handling the role, he seemed a much better option than Simon Mathew’s imo

Agree Dunne was a much better choice than the Geesook spruiker. I'm concerned with his lack of football background though and does he have the balls to pee off the medical staff and football department staff that have overseen our rapid decline.

I expect Benny will help him next year in the background as he will be based in Melbourne and not have much to do.

Media running with Shane.

Maybe we get Graham wright on board to make up for his shortfall, in a role that oversees the football department. Similar to Balme before his health problems

To me, Dunne looks like the best credentialed candidate and without being involved in the process (just like everyone else here) we can have opinions based purely on external but unsupported thoughts.

But looking at it logically, the CEO role is a significant step up from footy dept roles.

Dunne has been CEO of a business that has been growing and performed at or above expectations for 8 years. Allied Leisure is a big business in its own right with staff, financials, legal, competitors, customers, regulators and other criteria to navigate that will be encountered in the role of RFC CEO.

Each of Matthews & the Geelong candidates have not had the same experience. They are football dept employees that report to a CEO that manages these challenges, not having experienced them themselves.

And whilst it does appear to be an internal promotion, to me A.L runs its own business separate from the RFC and still has arms length separation, but the RFC still get to see how Dunne has gone about his work.

I'm happy with this appointment and good luck to Shane.

Resume says all the right things and seems relatively young (that’s a positive in my eyes over some of the dinosaurs running around)

Bodes well for a long term and stable appointment assuming he does a good job
Totally agree...who wants an old recycled dinosaur fecking up the joint when we can have a young untried newby to change the place!

The first thing Monday is that he needs to announce that there is going to be a large and extensive external review so he can get an objective view of the club and our operations and where we stand. Best to make sure someone from the outside doesn't end up with the spin and bullshit from current staff.

like enough really, we get you are never positive. Don’t have to constantly say it. Well done Shane and all the best
louie and mute prez all promoted from within

gimme some of what your popping as the writing is on the wall
