Whats with the comments that the logo is shit?
Has the new logo been revealed somewhere..?

Meh. It's not the worst logo I've ever seen but it's a classic Koch era Ports 5/10 execution.

The different line weights for the border, the bars and the PA are annoying, as is the afterthought shoehorning in of 1870. If 1870 doesn't deserve a place of prominence, why muddy the logo to get it in?

It looks like something a well meaning opposition club supporter on the footy jumpers and graphic design board would knock up without doing any real research into the club.

Don't hate the style of the monogram but the P appears a bit shorter than the A?

We are unique though. All the other clubs got to either keep their identity or are newly created franchises. We delve on what we've lost and what could've been.

No other club in the world has been forced to bin their identity and start again. It’s no wonder it’s been an issue and it will continue to be until the Bars are brought back.

Yeah it feels like a bit of a rough draft. It would take someone skilled about an hour to clean all these little bits up and instantly take it from a 5/10 to a 7 or 8.

So small that it has to be removed when scaled down. Pointless.

That smaller image sells it to me. I actually love it.

Logos these days are generally all about how they can be used - including variations. I think that's what I love about this logo. It can be subtly varied very easily with the border colour and the 1870. That allows it to be used effectively in a lot of mediums.

Most orgs are making their branding clearer and simpler - generally due to phones and the need for logos to be immediately recognizable on a small screen (see Firefox's logo changes for an example). I think this logo does that. The main area for improvement lies in the monogram in my opinion, as I'm not the position of the letters is ideal.

Otherwise though, this is good very good.

Exactly if we were finishing top 4 where we shouldn't be nobody would have a problem.

There was heaps of guernsey/branding/identity wailing and gnashing of teeth circa 01-07 when the club won more games than anyone.

My issue with the BiB jumper is that everyone said it looked like a traditional jumper and it did, just nothing to do with our tradition.

Which is exactly what I feel about this logo.

If what we have seen does turn out to be the new logo - I'm glad to see the end of the fist. The club logo should be something that will still look good for many, many years. The fist has looked very dated, imo, for a long time now. I don't mind the small amount of teal. Like it or not, teal has always been part of our identity in the AFL. I agree the 1870 should be more prominent and maybe after next year they will take the 150th off and work the 1870 in it's place.

I'll wait and see what it looks like in real life before making my mind up altogether. It's probably going to look better that some grainy image that someone took on their iPhone.

It's the american style of running the sports business. In football (soccer) in general in Europe and South america there are clubs with identical colours and sometimes even similar names. For example, when regional clubs were funded using the colours and sometimes names of larger and older first division clubs. Every so often those clubs find themselves in the same competition either by relegation/promotion of FA-type competitions. No one forces the new entrant, typically the smaller club, to change their identity. And the home/away strip rules apply the same to everyone. Having grown up with that, I sometimes find myself shaking my head with the AFL's approach.

Yeah I'm struggling to find reason to hate it; just get rid of the teal. Simple and strong.

The 1870 black diamond logo wouldn't look so good if it weren't printed on a business card with raised ink.

The Power logo is very smart and professional, and its uniquely ours, and it incorporates the club. It doesn't mean that I think it is completely suitable for us but I appreciate the intention.

In 1994 if the club had come up with PA I would've been as underwhelmed as I am now because the club logo should be vibrant and intelligently done.
