The young people in my family are Port supporters despite the nickname rather than because of it. They're envious of teams with an animal nickname and don't get the point of something intangible
And we are stuck with it for a long time. It’s generic.
It’s faux.
It’s poorly executed.
Not that fussed about logos but I don't mind this one.
I like the basic PA design, clean and simple, looks good on merch.
The 1870 is a bit fiddly but always pushing it out there in big numbers smacks of insecurity.
It's almost entirely dedicated to our long term history, black and white, prison bars with just a touch of teal using the border.
Don't mind the shield design, have seen it used in my long gone younger days.
Port Adelaide Black Diamonds
• Not replacing the Magpie with an inferior animal
• Referential to the heart of the Port
• Classy branding potential
• Tangible thing
• Unique but not without precedent (Urawa Red Diamonds, Japanese soccer)
• No sh¡tty alliteration leading to inevitable confusion: ie, Port Power Football Club [sic]
Man, f*** the 90’s.
Its bland and inoffensive, sort of like the current mob of administrators and footy department. It’s generic.

But what would I know.
Still the best logo I've seen for Port. You mean this one?
but the Red Diamond name is a Mitsubishi reference, so more of a Camry Crows kinda vibe.
I feel the same way towards this as you originally felt about the BiB guernsey, Ford.
Something about it that doesn’t feel right.

My issue with the BiB jumper is that everyone said it looked like a traditional jumper and it did, just nothing to do with our tradition.

Yeah, it’s a nice-looking strip with a suitably folksy origin story, but it’s as ‘Port Adelaide’ as a quinoa salad under the Burnside Mall tree corpse.
Still yet to win a final in it and copped some of our most psychologically-scarring defeats in it (138, 165, countless Showdowns).
No surprises Michaelangelo ‘finger-on-the-pulse’ Rucci advocated for it recently.

We definitely agonize over this stuff more than any other supporter base.
We are unique though. All the other clubs got to either keep their identity or are newly created franchises. We delve on what we've lost and what could've been.We definitely agonize over this stuff more than any other supporter base.
