Im not sold on Allen either, I'd go full Duggo only.
Seems much more comfortable Infront of the camera. Plus Allen couldn't even manage half a season last year, and with the rumours of his knee being cooked, have a feeling he will miss a substantial number of games next year

If Waterman got into a notable leadership position, I better sponsor the likes of Harry Barnett next season to turn his career around.
I'd be leaving it as Duggo/Allen as skips but with Waterman/Baker joining the LG.
Also, I thought the players had more say on the captain than the coach but could obviously be wrong and maybe it depends on the coach.

Allen would be best served by getting his body right and on the park as much as possible.

I like the Graham and Baker inclusions, they've come in and are our best trainers by a fair margin by all reports. (Probably alongside Waterman, who they're sitting with)

I detest co-captains, it completely de-values the position. I also don't like honest B graders (Duggan) being captain unless they have exceptional leadership skills (ie Woosha). I'd rather they just went with Allen, or if they were worried he can't stay on the field, Waterman.
It's a good move because it rams home the severe lack of leadership skills amongst the senior players (Kelly, Ryan, Cole etc).
They may be the new credits crew, but they address a gaping hole.
Fair enough, I disagree with the B-grader bit. The captain doesnt have to be one of the best players in the team, they just have to work hard and put the effort in, which I think Duggan does.
If anything id have given it solely to Duggan over Allen
I don't mind it. New coach who's familiar with those players who'll be relying on them to get his message across on how he wants the gameplan sorted. Plus they've been killing it in all the fitness and time trial stuff and how to conduct yourself at training, so anything they're good example guys for the younger blokes.
I'd say these were all McQualter decisions rather than a players vote which usually happened under Simmo because you would've thought Yeo would've been a VC unless he's told the club that's not something he wants to do any more.
We need to innovate to climb back up the ladder.

Not sure what the draw is with Allen constantly voted in, especially when he disappears for entire halves of games and spends a bit of time injured, but clearly that's who the squad wants so

Pretty soft by the Eagles... Should have just picked one of them rather than both... And why would you have Graham and Baker in there?... It's not like they are in the top echelon of players in AFL... Seems mcqualtrr might be playing favourites(Richmond)

What does that have to do with their selection in the leadership group? It's not a prerequisite.
I would have just made Duggan captain. I thought he had a pretty decent year last season and more importantly stood up and tried to lift the side when we needed leadership at times. Oscar just needs to focus on his footy and getting body right now.

McGovern makes sense as VC given the other senior players don’t scream leadership- Yeo seems like he might be a good VC but it needs to be pointed out he’s never been in the leadership group at any stage iirc
Waterman deserves his spot in the leadership group whilst Graham and Baker were both brought across by n part due to their leadership credentials. Might have preferred just one of them in the group but looking at that age bracket there’s nobody you’d select ahead of them
Hough and Ginbey are only in their 4th and 3rd years respectively and it would be too soon for either of them
We also have formal leadership players spread evenly across the field -
Backs - McGovern and Baker
Mids - Duggan and Graham
Forwards - Allen and Waterman
All up, the joint captaincy and broader leadership group makes sense

Very much agree. I feel as though we are in somewhat of a holding pattern with our leadership, until one of the younger brigade is deemed suitable to take on the main job.
That could be 2-4 years away and who it is, isn’t clear just yet.

Nah I would’ve axed Allen and gone Duggo solo. Port did it to Wines after the fans told the club that co-captains is gimp as all hell.
Otherwise I wouldve gone full rebrand into the new era with Waterman. With a new coach it wouldn’t be a big deal and people would accept it.
