I don't know if the FFC would be liable for damages if it obtained injunctive relief and then was ultimately denied the application. However, if they had lost the application for interlocutory relief then they would almost certainly have had costs awarded against them. Smart move to avoid that when you're the poorer party.

Just bought a "classic" jumper at DFO - $40!

Sounds like FFC were damned if they did and damned if they didn't go down the path they have. Be interesting how the season unfolds both on and off the field before the case is heard(if it gets that far) and what effect, if any, it has on the logo 'debate'(I use the word advisedly;according to the club you can have a one sided debate...you and just ignore or belittle anyone who disagrees with their actions).

There is the chance that the heat will go out of the logo debate if the team are flying high. Alternatively, if membership numbers are average (read down or stagnant)and finances are dropping (especially in relation to merchandise dollars received) perhaps the club will have to review where things are falling down. Question is, if this is the case will they have the balls to admit some of the problems may be related to their presumptuous attitude regarding introducing the new logo and their blatant disregard for supporters views post-introduction. Don't hold your breath! Not sure if these two scenarios above are mutually exclusive either.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the merchandise numbers are boosted because the 2009 real jumper and associated 2009 real merchandise were snapped up by people with good taste.

Interesting times ahead...unnecessarily so, in my opinion. Cheers. Al

Received a reply to my email.....just the usual spin, short and sweet, moving forward etc etc etc...blah blah blah!

The sad part is, they really DO think they are doing the right thing, and that we are all gungho about it:(

Yeah, they're backing themselves in. This is why we are beyond the "letters of complaint" stage now. They aren't waiting for the 10,000th letter to prove they are wrong or anything.

I said my piece at the AGM I'm now going into hibernation on the issue until I see what happens with the Fitzroy challenge.

What did you say and when? Sorry never been to an AGM and have no clue how it works either.

Fitzroy didn't lodge an injunction because they don't have a strong case for one.

Can't see there's an argument they could mount why one would be necessary. Doesn't do Fitzroy any damage to maintain the status quo until the court hears the case.

Regardless of the legal position, I can't see how it's in Fitzroy's best interests to be doing damage to the Lions anyway. If this and other threads are any indication then Fitzroy are benefiting from the current situation. No need to risk turning that support against them.

Absolutely no trolling is allowed on the Lions board. You are a well known trouble maker and will be treated as such.

You have made your little statement; I strongly suggest you stay away as any of your usual rubbish here will provide you with a red card in very quick time.

That would be a first.

Being banned from a team board for being supportive of that team!

There's no damage being suffered by FFC Ltd at present, hence no need for urgent injunctive relief. However, the breach of agreement claim does seek an order requiring the Brisbane Lions to adhere to clause 7.2.

No malice in this litigation in my view. Simply the enforcement of a legal right in circumstances where one party has failed to honor (or maybe forgotten about) it's legal obligations.

I just scored one for $40 - an unwanted prize - signed by the entire squad from this year by the looks of it (most of the signatures are illegible, but "D. Rich 10" is front and centre, the cheeky bugger).

edit: just deciphered Bradshaw's sig on the ball under the lion's paw. :(

Current results of the Courier Mail poll on the jumper:

Those for the jumper - 452

Those against - 3271

Yes that pesky majority with taste and an appreciation for the traditions and obligations of the club. Shame we didn't have a few involved in administering the club.

Chocolate or strawberry? That is what I hear from my mates now. What flavour paddlepop do you want? Sent the club an email abouy it, too.

Dear Mr. Bowers,

chocolate or strawberry? That is the question any of my football fan mates ask me when footy is the topic of conversation. Cats, Tigers, Pies or Hawks - the question is the same. What flavour paddlepop do you want - chocolate or strawberry?

When your highly paid consultants and focus group came up with uor new jumper, was there anyone involved that actually goes to the footy? Because one look at this design an the potential for lampooning it (and our club) is obvious. With your changes we have become a laughing stock.

Are you aware of the poll conducted online by the Herald Sun? Near on 4000 votes, and 88% disapproval of this design. That is not a few disgruntled Fitzroy diehards, that is a clear sign you got it wrong. If the jumper needed updating, why did you not include the members in the process, and canvass all of the options? There are better alternatives, one of which I have attached here.

I have renewed my membership in spite of you, not as support of your actions. The whole saga reeks of incompetence. I do not wish to hide behind the anonymity of the internet. Please feel free to call me if you wish to discuss the issues in person.

My heart goes out to our Victorian members & supporters going to games this year. Chocolate or strawberry?

Seems like young Mr Bowers has assumed the dislike of a Goebells, or Goring.:)

How'd I know it'd come to that. Wasn't easy to bite the tongue when he showed up. I hope Santa brings you something extra special this year weevs :thumbsu:

That’s the email he sent me.

It’s the new club song.

I would laugh at that, but the last time I did that a stupid rumour of a new jumper actually happened:cool:

Strawberries or chocolate? Paddle pop lion? Meddling anonomous online polls with no interests in the good of the club?
Wow it's good to know we have so many marketing experts fighting the good fight. How about some answers on how to help the lions? I propose we have the letters FFC on the front of the jumper and the side on fitzroy lion as the logo. After all it worked so well for Fitzroy.
Give me a break. Does anyone notice that doing nothing was not working? I feel for Bowers, Damned if he does Damned if he doesn't.
Merry Christmas everyone. Go Lions!

Its funny how virtually the only ones defending the jumper are newbies. Suspicious that these people only turn up when certain people in the club are getting caned. One would think that they might not be genuine interested in canvassing the issues.

If you are from the club have the guts to come out and say so.

Hardcore Lion - at least have the decency to read the thread about what has been proposed and the issues that have been canvassed and discussed. Several much more palatable suggestions have been made and you look like a noob with your comment. And yes sometime it is better to leave something alone rather than butcher it altogether. Bower has approached the whole issue appallingly and this is on top of three successive years of losses and numerous other **** ups that have occurred since he has been in charge. He has squandered any goodwill that has arisen from Voss taking charge and the return to the finals. He has alienated Victorian fans and made adult fans whereever they are embarrassed to wear the jumper. The administration tried desperately to keep the jumper quiet and could have backed down early when the poor feedback came in. Instead they backed themselves into a corner where fans despise the administration and the club is subject to lawsuits. Bowers has stuck his head in the sand and the problem is that the club is going to suffer for his ineptitude. As mentioned this is all on top of his financial mismanagement of the club which I do not think he has been called to account for sufficiently by the Board who also need their butts kicked.
