One for New Jumpers for 2019, ISC apparently very interested in securing Carlton.
Nike (Australia) have very little interest in sponsoring teams and clubs - a lot of work and not a lot of bang for their buck regardless of whatever merchandise is made. It’s simply a very hard game and one they don’t care about.

They never wanted to sponsor the WSW but due to the FFA they were pushed to do so. Next year their kit will be straight from their teamwear range just with WSW sponsors. They are only sponsor Melbourne City due to Man City and they no longer sponsor the Broncos.

I can confirm that ISC are very keen to add us to their stable of clubs which includes Collingwood and Essendon. Their supporter merchandise range is much better as is the service.

As cool as the swoosh is I think it’s time for a change. Having said all that I’d love to be partnered with the 3 stripes. They take pride in their teams and clubs in all codes and I’d love a navy jacket with 3 white stripes and embroidered Carlton logo.

Hope this helps shed some light on the subject.

Can’t see Carlton going with ISC who have a shitload of clubs now like BLK used to.

I think it will be Puma or Adidas for Carlton. Both of those will be looking to have more than 1 club in the league imo and Carlton is the biggest club coming out of contract. Its a no brainer for em

Regarding that excerpt about WSW, I doubt that is all true.
Nike extended with them last year so I don't think they would have extended if the partnership was forced upon by the FFA.

I also question ISC's strategy recently of signing up so many teams, similar to what BLK did and look where that got them. ISC have had financial issues in the past.

Didn't they lose many of their existing AFL teams when they signed Collingwood and Essendon to sweetheart deals?

Teams they have lost in recent years have been Stk, GWS and Geelong. Whilst over that period gaining Adelaide, West Coast, Essendon and Collingwood. Break even in terms +- but they are four of the biggest clubs in the league which they have gained, which would help drive sales massively you would thinnk and probably lead to a pretty stable level of up-scaling in terms of growing their operations.

Really hope we don’t go to an American style where one manufacturer makes all gear. I like the individuality of the market

Only a matter of time IMO. We had that period a few years ago where teams jumped onto new contracts which were excessive in terms of length. Was easy to speculate back then that it was because of something like you mentioned. I feel like it’ll happen sooner rather than later.

What manufacturers do you think would be willing to do that for the AFL, apart from ISC? It does seem inevitable.

Either one manufacturer comes out of the blue, or one current one steps up, which I don't see happening in the near future. ISC are the main powerhouse for the moment.

While it’s unfortunately obvious they’re dropping Carlton, the Nike disliking sponsoring teams seems very strange. It’s a hassle to individually design and then produce footy jumpers and specific items like training jumpers and shorts, but for the Wanderers they’re just going to give them teamwear and some red or black shorts and shirts and print logos on them. I doubt they’re making heaps of money but the Wanderers are surely not asking for that much in return - it wouldn’t shock me if it was free merch for players and Nike take all stock profit or whatever.

As for ubiquitous sponsorships, well it’d be awesome if it was Nike or Adidas but it’ll be ISC. Yuck.

I wouldn't be surprised if the guernseys are all manufactured by ISC, the caps are all manufactured by New Era, and clubs get to choose who provides the rest of the apparel range (I can see brands like Puma stepping in there). Similar to what system was in place prior to the late 90s.
