Nicky Winmar will be designing the St. Kilda indigenous guernsey this year
Takes shirt off

"That will be $110 thanks"

"What?!"

The giants white indigenous guernsey is also puma made rather than puma getting ironed on top of the x blades logo like some though could be the case.

I am in the minority here but I think GWS's jumpers are somewhat of an upgrade.

I hated the off-centre G. The new home jumper still has the problem of the front being mostly charcoal and back orange but it's an upgrade.

Personally though I think what is now their clash jumper should be their home and their clash should be an inverse of that.

To me the G is way too simple of a shape to act as a monogram-like centre piece for a jumper. I feel it’ll also age very poorly, in fact it already has. Looks like a mid 2000s logo for a metro or public transport company or something imo, already looks years out of date. While the original wasn’t flash, I did like how the lean of the G gave it a forward movement type of look, and that the colours were distributed pretty evenly across the front. I agree with pretty much everyone when it comes to orange back. The only way for this design to have worked with me would be a charcoal back. I hate how the kit is somehow both top and bottom heavy with orange back and bib, and the charcoal front and shorts. Looks like a couple of Tetris pieces fitting together.

anyone else reckon St Kilda should just wear a remake of the 93 jumper for Indigenous Round? with the big black StKFC?

More likely they use they use that kit as a template and then place indigenous art over it. Can see the general public going "why dont St Kilda have an indigenous kit" if that were to happen.

You're a Lions supporter, of course you'd like it :p

I wouldn't mind this if it was designed to appear as if it's being lifted up to expose the indigenous style artwork.

Given how poorly executed our jumpers for 2021 are, I'm hoping the indigenous strip is better, because I need a new jumper and i'm not spending a cent on what NB has put out so far.

They've also shrunk the whole design, so it's not as visually dominant as it was.

0/3 :sadv1:
They probably had to do this in order to have enough white on it so it works as a clash jumper. Makes you wonder why they bothered in that case then, you'd be better off just designing a new jumper.

It’s more the clubs fault than Puma. They sign off on the designs.

I agree, it has got to be the case that the GWS brief 'must include' having an orange back. Why else would it continue across three different manufacturing companies, surely designers would think it looks s*** as well. I feel like the AFL is really out of touch with modern ideas on what is cool, when you look at the GF entertainment they roll out every year and then the two new clubs and their jumpers, colours etc. It must be a group of over 50's execs sitting around a boardroom table sharing ideas on what they think young people think is cool these days.

Anyhow the design is actually the same as the Swans one from years ago when they used to wear white shorts with it (see pic). They got rid of the white shorts because it looked weird with that design. I liked another posters words that it looks like a bunch of Tetris blocks put together. It's also strange why you would have a similar design with an all orange back and orange yolk, to that of the only other team from the same city with a red back and red yoke. You would think they would want to differentiate the team designs and colours as much as possible.

Home jumper:

Positives
:
- I actually think the centered logo looks better as it does not have the weird sides that it used to. It looks a little bit cleaner.

Negatives:
- I wouldn't actually call it a 're-design' more a realignment.
- Obviously the orange back with black numbers looks terrible again.
- The white Puma logo should be black, and on the back, the black canberra logo should be white, this would create a better balance between the front and the back.
- The back had the potential to match the front if it was all charcoal with some orange at the top and white numbers. Or what would look even better and something different from the rest of the competition with a full charcoal back with the orange numbers, they looked really look good on previous training jumpers.
- If they intended to stay with the orange back they could have at least considered making the numbers white or having a white perimeter around the black jumper numbers, so that some white was added to the back to match the front (see pic).
- Also I feel the designers must have a very strict brief because in previous training designs they were better than the actual matchday jumper; for example the all charcoal With Orange G logo looked really good (see pic).
- The other disappointment is there was so much potential to create a new and vibrant design, it's like the club doesn't read any feedback or public designs ideas which seems like a bad idea, as there are a lot of great concepts out there, even on here.
- The home jumper is 70% orange and the away jumper is 90% orange. Why would you have the home jumper predominantly the same colour as the away jumper?

My rating out of 5
Old 2.5
New 3

Away Jumper:

Positives:

- It is orange as opposed to White.
- It looks a lot better than the original white away jumper which looked terrible. Orange should always have been the colour of the away jumper and predominantly charcoal should have been the home jumper.

Negatives:
- I feel as though the the blades training jumper or orange design was better and cleaner version than this one (see pic).
- The jumper is a little bit boring and could have added a few different elements to make it better.
- It kind of looks like a training jumper.
- White border around the g actually takes away from the design.

My rating out of 5
Old 0.5
New 2.5

Indigenous Jumper:
Old 4, New 3

- The reasons described above with the stuffing around with the cuffs etc.

Overall I think there are some slight improvements from previous ones, but very disappointed that the new design didn't do a lot better like we were all expecting. Actually they weren't really new and innovative at all. Definitely an opportunity missed as you would expect they would not be 're-designing' again for a long time.

I guess bonus points for a team using their point of difference as the colour base for their clash jumper which will be good against Collingwood, Carlton, St Kilda, etc. But as a pair, it's a bit of a mish-mash if the home jumper retains an orange back.

The white line around the G on the clash weakens the design, which looked a lot better just more than 10 years ago:

Take me back

has member been able to go to the Collingwood store yet? surprised a media polo hasn't been released.... Hopefully we do indeed get one.

I
GWS have great colours but a terrible logo and whoever is giving Puma the design briefs should be fired.

And then whoever is approving these designs should follow them.

But that said, still a lot better than "Training top Gold Coast" who need a total overhaul.
It's funny because gold coast has some great training tops with unique patterns on them, but their actual kits are bleh
