Does that kids argument even hold up?

When I was a kid I always wanted the home jumper

If they want a popular guernsey to sell to the kids then they can just make one and sell it, rather than forcing grown ass men to wear it.

That they marketed it as a 'return to tradition', wheeling out our 90s legends to celebrate the home jumper, before unleashing that cartoon monstrosity away jumper, is pretty damn awful. They could have easily gone with a V (blue on white or white on blue) to actually support the tradition based marketing campaign, or the bounding Roo if they were gonna wheel out the 90s blokes.

It's an abomination that I hope we don't actually need to wear.

The away jumper isn’t bad, the North one. But what’s even the point of a slightly different jumper.
The white stripes on blue is actually a decent home jumper. Don’t get the obsession with having a traditional blue on white, or black stripes on white like Collingwood. The darker back is more imposing tbh

Because we won all our premierships in a jumper like the one they just announced. It's what North Melbourne looks like, for most of us. The inverted kit is fine but it shouldn't be the home jumper.

I wonder if, in order to get to wear their home with blue shorts that the home Guernsey is classified as a "blue" Guernsey and therefore the away one will be worn against Bulldogs, West Coast, Carlton?, Freo?, Melbourne?. Surely not but honestly wouldn't surprise me.

I mean surely it's not been designed to be worn against Geelong so it's got to go somewhere.

Very doubtful. They've probably moved on from their shorts stance - the Guernsey is clearly more white than blue.

It’s gone back to the 90s white. Whereas the past few years it was predominantly white on the front with blue on the back. Now it’s the traditional blue stripes back and front.

I know this. The previous poster said "I wonder if they've classed it as a blue jumper" - very doubtful given its a white jumper.

Yeah I have a feeling the powers that be want to leave the bounding roo in the past but I see no reason why we couldn't use the 2017 indigenous version as the away.

It's beautiful and aesthetic and Australian as it gets unlike the American cartoon crap we are going with

I have that guernsey. Probably one of the greatest indigenous round guernseys ever.

Question. Does the AFL sign off on gurnseys and have any input and by input ofc not the main overall design but anything? Does anyone know?

It's possible ww could see North in a blue indigenous jumper against Geelong for Sir Doug Nicholls round

Yes

The AFL for a while had a "% of the clash must be white" and routinely knocked back Bears themed clash kits for Brisbane - which is why they had those funny white side panels on it (was confirmed by the Lions account from memory)

However, that isn't a rule for all clubs bizarrely.

In 2005 (?) They weren't happy with the numbers Richmond were using and we had to change about 5 rounds in.

While they don't design the jumpers, they do have some rules about what can be on them and since they own all the designs they ultimately approve what's used.

Usually they check once something has been designed - remember the Adelaide clash that was knocked back after its presser, the SA themed one

My gut feel is that north will wear the away when they play non victorian teams away with white shorts. Home jumper remaining games with either blue or white shorts.
game v geelong will either be indigenous round. Or, it will be a terrible jumper clash that afl let happen a few times a year

I really hope not, and I doubt the club will do it if they don't have to. In the game against West Coast we wore the blue on white guernsey with white shorts and it looked great, absolutely no clash at all. Should be looking to do what Geelong does and wear the home jumper in as many games as possible.
