White clash jumpers are smart. It’s the easiest way to totally avoid a clash. On top of that Carlton and Freos clashes have been the best for some time and they work effectively. I even liked the saints bigger white strip version (used in the 2010 Gf).

If the purpose of the clash is to avoid clashing then it’s easily the smartest option.

Collingwood and Sydney haven’t had their 22 range uploaded to their team online stores yet. Normally 3 months ago this is done. Surely this has to be the latest ever in a season to do so when it finally happens
I work at AFL Store and we received an email saying COLL/SYD Nike gear will be available early or even late APRIL! If true- Collingwood especially should really part ways with Nike our patience has it's limits

i think you have to look at who the clash strips need to be worn against, and as long as your clash design provides extra distinction against those teams' home jumpers, you're fine. St. Kilda's red strip works fine, and you know it works fine because it's essentially the same colour balance as Sydney's home guernsey (it even looks the same from the back) and Sydney don't have to wear clash jumpers against Essendon and Melbourne, or any of the mostly dark/black based teams. St. Kilda are unusual in that they tend to just wear their clash jumper for every away game unless it actively creates a clash, so they probably won't wear it in away games against GWS (the red back looks like GWS's orange back) as they have in the past.

I commend their decision to move to the red crusader. I think it could've used one little touch of black on the back to make it look less like a Sydney jumper (maybe black outlines on the numbers would do the trick, or black numbers with white outlines) but it's an excellent choice. Clubs shouldn't be forced to make their clash strip all white, there's already several clubs like Melbourne, GWS, Adelaide, Hawthorn, Port, West Coast and Gold Coast who've worn white clash strips in the past, decided it's not the look they want and changed to something else that uses their other colours more effectively, and there's Richmond and Essendon who've never worn a white clash jumper and it's never been a problem for them.

I cannot confirm the information, but I can confirm these are emails you will get at the AFL Store from Nike so it checks out 😆

It wasn't from Nike it was from the operations manager. Maybe it's just the AFL store whereby the apparel won't ne available until April and the online club stores will have them available earlier- but it wouldn't make sense because the AFL Store is directly interlinked with all club merchandise? April does sound preposterous though

The Red Crusader has White collar and cuffs so it does look different to Sydney from behind.

The front of the St Kilda clash jumper is beautiful. With the white shorts it's a really good weighting of red, white and a bit of black that provides contrast against just about every team we clash against, and without sapping the entire design in the name of having an all/mostly-white clash.

The back really needs a white number panel with a black number while retaining the red above and below (basically an inverse of the original crusader, with the red at the top we had in the 2017-19 version). The front and back at the moment are basically two different jumpers and the panel would make it more consistent, as well as more providing a little bit more contrast against Brisbane/GWS/Essendon/Melbourne. And also just making it more St Kilda.

Effectively this, but with the red at the bottom on both the front and the back.

that's a really good solution, far more elegant than number outlines. now i wish this is what they'd gone for

Looks great on TV

Clubs & manufacturers need to learn not to **** with tradition, and if they can bring back the bounding roo next year you'll be right.

the one thing wrong with it is the white cuffs. but it's such a minor detail I can't really care too much about it, they've nailed the brief
