considering this is what their home jumper looked like as late as 1956, it probably was intentional

yeh make sense then stripes should go all the way up then, since its a modernisation the colors should have been on the right side, but its not thier best clash plenty of more creative ideas to use or come up with

did they realise this when making the saints new clash but the red and blace arent on the right side on the back of the jersey

What do you mean not in the right place? They didn't do the stupid west coast thing of having a jumper that looks like two different jumpers depending which way the player is facing, looks like the right place to me

on the backside of the jersey, the colors are flipped, red on the left on the front but its on the right on the back of the kit

if you're looking at it from the back, the red is on the left and the black is on the right, like it is on the front. what's wrong with that? it means you can actually see all 3 colours no matter which direction you're looking at a player from.

The pattern isnt continued over the shoulders to the back of the jumper. It doesn't mirror the front. Unlike the WCE tri-panel.
I guess its a win for historical accuracy...
still looks odd to me

In the bottom image you can see red on from the back on the right side of the kit

agree It doesn't bother me too much but I had this issue when making designs at the start forgetting to mirror the back, so from that stand point it looks weird and awkward is should be on colour each side

this is the Richmond preseason jumper for this year. The training jumper is simply plain yellow. The most disappointing output from our partnership with puma imo.

Yet if it had have been designed by someone on FJGD, people would be claiming how great it is. 🤷‍♂️

It’s a good guernsey for its purpose, which is preseason (and inverse training?) and adds to the idea of earning the your guernsey proper by debuting in an actual game.

Lighting also doesn’t help to make it not look like a DHGate knockoff.

I dont see anything wrong with it for what its purpose is. Maybe a splash of yellow on the cuffs would have given it a little bit more. Sad they didn't do a yellow tiger stripe inverse, but it's actually not bad.

I never said it wasn’t good…but coming from the bold logo based designs with the bright yellows, it’s quite dull in comparison. The design itself is good but it’s missing a splash of colour as has been said. A bit of yellow along some of the stripes would’ve have made it pop a little more I think.

"Disappointing" I believe was the term used.

the west coast tripanels looked terrible because they mirrored the front. it was a navy blue jumper in one direction and a yellow one in the other.

I think keeping the blue adds to this washed out feel. Two tone gold would look better and more prominent IMO.

IMO this is the way to do it. Add a 2nd trophy for back to back, same thing for AFLW premiers, and perhaps even do a similar thing for the McClelland Trophy holders that both mens and womens teams can wear if they can ever find a way to make that award more legitimate than it currently is.

Balwyn Footy Club called...

Probably giving them too much credit but think the connection to "earning your stripes" which in this case would be the yellow sash is cool that it could be communicated in this way graphically.

Or, just have it be one trophy and list ie 2013-2015 if it's back to back to back underneath the trophy silhouette.

I think you'd want successive trophies to stand out more. Kind of like collecting stamps, e.g. 3-peat and McClelland Trophy holder below:

You could even add something for the previous season's individual AFL award winners (AA, Coleman, Brownlow holder etc) kind of like the gold cap in the Big Bash, and this :p:

It'd take up too much space, gotta be minimalistic. And the minor premiership is pretty irrelevant tbh, it's just as good as second spot.

Bbl does it pretty well tbh.
Would be good for a redesign of the premiers logo. Only a matter of time they add something for the McClelland Trophy, but needs to be distinct

I'm not thrilled at the placement of the logos on the St Kilda jumper again.

The shield placement is so low, it's in line with the bottom of the arm cuff. I presume because no logo can be higher than the AFL logo, but surely an exception could be made to put the most identifying thing about our club above the sponsor logo, or to move them both up 10 cm to make it look more aesthetically pleasing.

Something like this could have looked good.
*I couldn't be bothered continuing the yellow lines on my phone but you get the picture
