Impossible. The current logo is genuinely awful.

They’ve done a few neat things with this new one, combining the GCS initials into a footy shape, sun on the water, it’s pretty clean overall. The small logo on the chest kinda reminds me of old school Sergio Tacchini tennis threads.

I think the oval shape makes it look super bland and not enough of a departure from the previous logo. They really needed a proper reset and this just doesn't look it yet. Maybe the rest of the rebrand will help make it look a bit better but it's not looking positive so far.

Where are you seeing the G and C? Can someone point it out to me? It looks like a giant fat S in the shape of an airship or what is now known to be a black hole. I don't think any of it is clever, it feels overly corporate and ill thought-out

It's a stretch, particularly as the horizon on the left cuts through the left-side curve that is key to both letters, but the vibe of them is there...

Not sure if it does translate across codes but that looks similar to the T20 Australian shirts. Fingers crossed it does and we've gone red with blue.
