Warner will be selected for the Pakistan series, I have no doubt about that.

Beyond that, I think Renshaw should get an extended crack at it. He's still only 27 and has several years left.

As far as bowlers go, sadly I don't think we can be planning around Richardson, even though he's the best long-term prospect at this stage, if you don't factor in injuries. Accordingly, I think we need to be trialling Morris this home summer, and considering others like Johnson and Meredith. I'd like to see at least 2 of those get a crack in the home summer and New Zealand series.

Finding an opener to replace Khawaja is the only thing I'm worried about long-term. I think we've got the bowling stocks, and there's enough promising batting prospects to replace Smith too.

I agree, Jhye Richardson is a fantastic prospect and his ability is not in doubt. Genuine strike bowler, however since that shoulder injury in an ODI some years back his body has not been able to hold up, not sure what that's about? But disappointing nonetheless. Either way, we need to nurture him, but not put all of our eggs in his basket. Such a shame, hopefully he does not go the same way as his teammates Paris and Behrendorff with regards to red ball cricket.

I am excited by the prospect of some of those Redbacks quicks, Spencer Johnson, Jordan Buckingham, David Grant and even Brendan Doggett (he was close to international selection as some point?). They all have something promising from what I've seen of them.

Queensland have Steketee (still only 29) and Bartlett who I could see being around the squad at some point.

Speaking of Paris, he had an exceptional FC season last year.

Agree with most in here, hopefully long-term Green can turn into a 4 but at the moment if he even gets a game it is at 6.

If Puc can get his health right (which it looks positive as of right now) I think he can be a long term opener alongside Renshaw (bring him after the Park series)

I'm more concerned about the 4 slot because as of right now I don't really see anyone in the Shield good enough to bat there in a few years

Murphy will be Lyon's replacement but I think the Ashes have shown Lyon is still a vital part of this side and probably still has 2-3 years left in him.

What are people's Uncapped/Under 10 Test XI for the future?
I'm assuming Green would take the all rounder spot, and Murphy as the spinner, but what else?
For me:

Hunt
Street
Pucovski
Sangha
Wyllie
Hardie
Inglis
Sutherland
Richardson
Murphy
Morris

It is shaping to be an important first-class summer for that top four. Jason Sangha is an interesting one, easy on the eye, burst onto the scene, struggled in parts, but still only 23 I think?

Chandrasinghe is the most interesting one here. Obviously the innings mentioned in the article was very impressive but since then he has been really poor. Seems like the type of player where once he settles he can cash in, but his number of single digit scores is in FC is shocking.
This is his first class innings. Averages 22, remove that 119 not out in his first game and it's an average of 14. Not saying he doesn't have a future, but he's not shown anything that makes me think he's going to be the answer.

2027 Ashes
Pucovski (29) Capt
Wyllie (23)
Kellaway(23)
Green (28)
Wasley (21)
Connolly (24)
Inglis (32)
Perry (28)
Murphy (28)
Richardson(30)
Morris (29)
12th Hardie (29)

8 boys from WA and 4 Victorians should do it eh?

Yeah, he was very good this last summer though. One for the future still. I also rate his leggies as well haha.

Would like to see our "A" teams resemble genuine "A" teams as well.

I know it's hard because these days you've got players scattered all across the globe in various competitions but still
  • Teague Wyllie is some talent (as I've already mentioned) but an average of 24 should not be A-team worthy.
  • Spencer Johnson has shot onto the scene but has just four first-class games under his belt.
  • Caleb Jewell, Wes Agar and Nathan McSweeney are your quintessential middle of the road first class cricketers.

Batting wise I agree, however I don't hate the idea of giving some younger bowlers a chance if it comes down to a choice between them or the older guys like Neser, Boland etc who we already know are capable to step up if needed.

I suspect the side picked will be closer to a genuine A side than what we picker earlier this year though. Most of the guys who normally would have been picked already had signed with county sides and a few others were injured.

I also think McSweeney might have a bit about him and we might see him become a little better than a middle of the road First Class cricketer in the next few years. Will have to wait and see I guess.

Big summer for young talent to put their names forward.

Labuschagne, Head, Green, Carey, Cummins all have plenty of cricket ahead but Khawaja, Warner and Hazlewood are pretty much done, Lyon close to the end, Smith and Starc two years away.

Really hope Pucovski can still come through.

Bowlers
Morris, Johnson, Richardson, Murphy, Sangha, Perry

Bats
Pucovski, Hunt, Drew, Renshaw, Kellaway, Connelly, Whyllie, Bancroft

All rounder
Hardie, Sutherland

Australia male U19 squad to tour England: Hugh Weibgen (c, QLD), Lachlan Aitken (QLD) Harkirat Bajwa (VIC), Mahli Beardman (WA), Harry Dixon (VIC), Cameron Frendo (NSW), Ryan Hicks (NSW), Sam Konstas (NSW), Rafael MacMillan (NSW), Tom Menzies (NT), Cody Reynolds (QLD), Harjas Singh (NSW), Tom Straker (NSW), Josh Vernon (WA), Callum Vidler (QLD), Corey Wasley (WA).
No Joel Davies, Ethan Jamieson, Liam Blackford, all played in the victorious first Junior Ashes in Jan/Feb this year. Big wraps on fast man Mahli Beardman while Corey Wasley is another batting prodigy from the Rockingham-Mandura production line in WA.

Only one thing missing CA, the SQUAD.

Four who have my vote are Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Matt Renshaw, Tim Ward. Is Jhye Richardson finally fit.
