I will have a crack at a First X1:

Tim Ward
Henry Hunt
Matt Renshaw
Will Pucovski
Teague Wyllie/Ashley Chandrasinghe/Campbell Kellaway
Aaron Hardie
Josh Inglis
Jhye Richardson
Todd Murphy
Spencer Johnson
Lance Morris.

Will Sutherland (12)
Sutherland is better than Johnson and Morris by a fair way. Seriously.

Would like to see our "A" teams resemble genuine "A" teams as well.

I know it's hard because these days you've got players scattered all across the globe in various competitions but still
  • Teague Wyllie is some talent (as I've already mentioned) but an average of 24 should not be A-team worthy.
  • Spencer Johnson has shot onto the scene but has just four first-class games under his belt.
  • Caleb Jewell, Wes Agar and Nathan McSweeney are your quintessential middle of the road first class cricketers.

Not sure I agree re Caleb Jewell, I think he has something there to suggest he could go to the next level. Seems like a temperament thing right now that's holding him back, reminds me of James Vince a bit. Looks great, then suddenly gone.

No Joel Davies, Ethan Jamieson, Liam Blackford, all played in the victorious first Junior Ashes in Jan/Feb this year. Big wraps on fast man Mahli Beardman while Corey Wasley is another batting prodigy from the Rockingham-Mandura production line in WA.

Is Beardman supposed to be fast?

Finally a squad that makes some sense....probably don't need Smith TBH....Turner the better option.

He'll be opening. If his BBL last season was anything to go by he is by far the best option there, he was way better than the rest in his short stint. 350 runs at 86 striking at 175 from his 5 matches.
In 5 matches he hit 25 sixes which lead the tournament, 2nd place hit 20 sixes in 11 games...

They've genuinely picked 7 bats and 10 bowlers for the four day stuff. I'm assuming Sutherland is still injured.

it appears all the next wave of players are basically all gonna come out of WA.
Westend will tell you that I mentioned this 12 months ago. WA are producing so many quality cricketers because of the visionary junior red ball Premier Cricket program introduced by WACA about a decade ago.

Considering Voges has gone back to back with treble titles, I think I will bow to any 'captain's call' he makes. Pierson will get first crack in the 4 day games anyway.
Look at the squad. Unless they play 5 bowlers, both will play.

If Puc can get his health right (which it looks positive as of right now) I think he can be a long term opener alongside Renshaw (bring him after the Park series)
Am tipping Pucovski to be back for the upcoming season as he looks keen again to resume his career by currently playing an off season in English League Cricket. For the record, prefer Puc in the middle order. Also cutting their teeth in Pom conditions are Henry Hunt and Bryce Street with both having strong claims for the next long term Test opening spot after Ussie steps away..
