Is it sustainable over time? History says No…but who knows?
Would I coach it? No way
Does it stand up technically? Split grip and a gap between bat and pad…No
Is it effective? Today yes.
Is it replicable/reliable? Computer says No

We produced Konstas didn’t we?Ridiculous.
It clearly works for him - the idea that every player has to be coached to be a clone is a big reason for a lot of juniors deciding to chuck the game in.
It's part of the reason Australia will never produce a Bumrah - he probably would have spat it at well meaning coaches trying to turn him into a side-on metronome.
YepI will admit to have never seen him bat until a week ago - but I read another poster on here say that he has rarely played like that at shield level. Good to hear if true, means he's adaptable. Travis Head is our only bat at the moment who can properly get out of second gear. Super raw but he's exciting!

It was really interesting to hear Stuart Clark talk about him in the radio - apparently similar age to Clark's son at the same district club. He said Sam was always better than everyone else in his age group. And always made runs and lifted his game. He played 5th grade at 13 and started with a century. 4th grade at 14 and got a hundred. They put him In first grade and he made a hundred.Yep
Who knows where this will lead but I'll be tuning in to find out, as will the rest of Australia
People have batted with a split grip before and succeeded. Faf Du Plessis was one.Take it for what it is - great entertainment

I’m all for new ideas - i just cant see how the split grip works for the masses - freaks are freaks whether it is sustainable we will seeCooper Connolly is also a split gripper. Watson was talking about it last night on the BBL coverage and didn't really see an issue with it.
I would have thought Konstas' big issue will be Jadeja straight breaks coming in with the arm, so someone like Prabath Jayasuriya will eat him for breakfast in Sri Lanka.
Looks to have an incredible eye which will get him through with the quicks
One of my sons played rep cricket against Konstas for years. Whilst he never scored massive runs against us you could see the talent from an early age. He saw the ball much earlier than the other good players. He was very orthodox but did hit the ball in the air quite a lot. He has always had that gap between bat and pad but his hand eye was next level so he often got away with it.It was really interesting to hear Stuart Clark talk about him in the radio - apparently similar age to Clark's son at the same district club. Pretty likely Weibgen will get a shield debut after the BBL break, keen to see how he goes. Dixon and Konstas got most of the attention during the u19 WC, but to me Weibgen looked the best of the lot from a technical point of view, always managed to score runs on the tougher decks when the others struggled. Had hardly played any cricket since the u19 world cup until last weekend due to an injury and made 133no for Valleys as if he'd been playing all season. Big talent imo.Project Test Team 2029
Could see Peak, Beardman, McSweeney, Sangha and ONeill finding there way in here.

Rocky Flintoff: Andrew Flintoff's son named in England Lions squad
Rocky Flintoff is named in the England Lions squad for their tour of Australia in January.www.bbc.com
England Lions coming out for 2 matches against the CAXI during the BBL and an Aus A match.
Interested to see how to squads look for the CAXI matches considering the BBL is still running. Would love to see some current and recent u19 players get a run as well as any shield regulars that don't have BBL contracts.
Pretty decent bowling attack there with Tongue, Cook, Bashir/Hartley and possibly Josh Hull. Let a few of the young fellas have a crack at them and see how they go.
Don't really understand why you've got McSweeney at 5 there, surely gets a go at 3 over Goodwin first? He's also captained every Aus A since and PM's XI match he has played in since the Aus A tour of NZ so I can't see that changing if he is playing.Harris

Pretty strong squad without BBL contracts. Manenti and Gannon a little unlucky. As far as Aus A though, you'd play guys who might head to SL and next gen players so something like:
Hunt
Ward
Goodwin
Handscomb (c)
McSweeney
Webster
Inglis (+)
Neser
O'Neill
Swepson
T Sangha
Ward, Goodwin, McSweeney and O'Neill there with an eye to the future. Hunt is probably the next opener in line, Handscomb, Inglis and Webster are highly likely to be on the plane, Neser could be the back up seamer. I see Swepson and Sangha competing for the last spot on the plane because I think Lyon, Murphy and Kuhnemann are already on it and there'll be a spot for a leggie
Fair enough. I think McSweeney long term is 4-6 and would like to see him there.Don't really understand why you've got McSweeney at 5 there, surely gets a go at 3 over Goodwin first? The Aus A match also starts the day after the 1st test in SL starts, so no one in the SL squad will be playing
Connolly small sample size 60 ave.Of the kids currently playing FC cricket. Ollie Davies (and Sam Kostas) has clearly the best first class average of all youngsters (40+)
No one else is above 35.
I dont see many of the current group breaking out and dominating. McSweeney was hardly dominating, it was more because we had no one else
Davies had a great season last season but has regressed pretty significantly this season. Hopefully can bounce back, but his technique combined with his temperament or lack of worries me.
