NFL Div 1 - Tipping Competition

Back for season 2015, we have had some different concepts in the past. This year will be simple, plain old tipping comp.

To start off rules are simple. Tips must be in by that start of the game, any edited posts will not be accepted.

The season kicks off this Friday with the Good Friday game between Greensborough v Eltham. As this is the only game this week this is the only tip required.

There is not massive car for the winner, just bragging rights. As I said I am happy to buy the winner a beer at Preston during the finals for tipping well, I am sure a few others may join in on that.

I will start.

Greensborough v Eltham. As a Panther I believe we will be up and about after one of the better pre-seasons I have seen in years but up against the Premiers on their own ground (and after what I hear a great pre-season) and after unfurling the flag I am tipping the home side by a goal or two.

Hmmm, we used to get around 20+ in the tipping but after a year off it seems to have dropped off. If there is only four of us I wonder if its worth doing?

It used to be fun and generate good banter and conversations but it seems we have dropped off. I will see what happens this week if more enter to decide but don't think I will of only 4 stay in.

Lets hope for some more starters. Where is KickAss, it was fun beating him. I suppose he is utilizing all his spare time to try and get fit for Super Fools. He will have a fair bit of running to do if he is going to be water boy.

Northcote Park v West Preston Lakeside - Typically a close game (drawn last time) Both missed finals last year and will be desperate to kick off 2015 with a win. Close one again, Cougers 2 goals.
Lower Plenty v Montmorency - Nothing better than a rivalry when you are only 100 meters away from each other. Everyone seems to think Mont will fall away this year and the the Bears improve on their 7th last year (although really 1 win and percentage off 4th). Both teams to come out with something to prove and I think the small sideways ground will come into it. Bears by a couple.
North Heidelberg v Macleod - Welcome back to the Bullys, have not heard great things about their advances into Div 1, whilst Macleod will be up ready to show last year was the start of something. Macleod by 50p
Bundoora v Heidelberg - Modern day rivalry in the NFL like no other, reports on the Bulls demise may be premature but the word from the Den is the Tigers are up and ready for redemption. Tigers by a couple.

Okay, we're back !

Northcote Park v West Preston Lakeside - A toss of the coin here with the Cougars favoured.
Lower Plenty v Montmorency - A nice neighbourly game with no love lost between them. The Bears have a couple of handy recruits and should win.
North Heidelberg v Macleod - The Doggies are back in the top division but haven't set the world on fire recruiting-wise while the Kangas will be even stronger than last season. Kangas.
Bundoora v Heidelberg - Boy, haven't the Bulls lost a boatlaod of quality players. Yes great rivalry between these two and the Tigers to prevail.

Round two. Looking at the forecast we may be in for a wet one.

Macleod v Greensborough - Match of the round. Both impressive sides that will be involved deep into the finals this year, Macleod play super at their home ground but coming up against the premiers nothing will come easy. Slime by 1 point.
Eltham v Northcote Park - Panther been itching to get home after playing two weeks ago. Cougers impressive last Friday. I think this will be another close one with the home side getting home. Panther by 2 goals.
West Preston v North Heidelberg - The Chooks well beaten last week will account for the Dogs at home here.
Heidelberg v Lower Plenty - Geez, just about every game you look at now days is hard to pick. Lower got over the line against Mont last week and will take things from that game to improve. The Tigers at home are always a hard task, expect this to be real close as well. Tigers by a few.
Montmorency v Bundoora - Talk of both sides having more outs than ins in the off season allowed them to bring in some handy youngsters. Monts first quarter last week was full of run and flair. With selection of Fitzgerald and Dennis unavailable I am going for Mont by a few in the twilight.

Eltham vs Northcote Park - Expect a close game here with the Panthers, after their extended break, to be a bit fresher.
West Preston vs North Heidelberg - The doomsdayers have already written the Doggies off and unfortunately they will be right this week.
Macleod vs Greensborough - Match of the Round and a real toss up but can't go past the Burra at this stage.
Heidelberg vs Lower Plenty - Ah, the Barrel Game ! Same teams but a different result. Tigers to roar.
Montmorency vs Bundoora - Both look totally different from last season with the Maggies just a bit more composed.
