Yeh agree. Not sure how they police it. Unless you declare to the league someone is concussed (which will never happen) then the rule just won’t work.

But clubs leave themselves open to liability if they know a player was concussed and knowingly played them. But the player can also say no.
The league don’t actually care, it’s just advised from the aboves for legal purposes. The entire onus is on clubs
and if the league don’t get sued it’s a win.

Not sure the league would actually 'not care' about the well being of players, but yes I agree, as all competitions have doing, their is a big push to safe guard against future litigation - competition, clubs, staff, etc. You should see how much it's getting pushed in the VAFA (full of lawyers  ).

That said, I hope that clubs are doing what they can to protect players from themselves and IF a concussion happens they step in and take the decision away from players (and sometimes coaches). We have had a couple and it's not even a discussion right now for us - you get a knock, assessed and ruled out - either during game (Trainer) or post game by a doctor - then coaches, medical team and player advised they are out for the determined time. Done.

I know people will talk about finals and key players, but it's only a game of footy in the end no matter how passionate we all are about it. Injuries happen and you play with what you have. So, set the protocols for your club and let players know you are taking care of their well being as a priority - no matter what.

Others WILL have a different view, that's 100% fine, but I am supportive of the way our club has approached it this year and put the players first.

I am so sick of hearing about concussions. The protocols are in place at all levels, whether they are adhered to or not is out of everyones control.

Lets move on.

Heidelberg back at home this weekend. Looks like they are putting on a big day. Hopefully the weather holds out.

Some clubs, coaches and players will do the right thing and apply the protocols - unfortunately others won't

No different to many other things, EG salary cap, on field/off field behaviour, bar prices

No reports or suspensions in the NFNL again last week - The cleanest competition in Australia!
Bet the NFNL didnt issue any fines to clubs last week either, too much work, far too understaffed to issue fines - so how will the lunches be funded this year if the NFNL fat cats cant afford staff to do the administrative work?

Relegation battle is alive with Macleod's win over Bundoora today. Massive game next week between Eltham vs Bundoora
Doggies bounce back with a hard fought win over Hurstbridge
And a very disappointing loss for Banyule at home

Will be in a fortnight’s time. No games next Saturday.

A month is a long time in footy.

Dogs were apparently cooked, Borough were high flying.

Good on Macleod, I didn’t think they were going that bad. Plenty of good stuff to look forward to in next 10 rounds.

A couple of thumpings in between an honourable loss at home against Nth H, so not really travelling that well. In saying that, good to open the account against Bundoora, who's drop off is alarmingly worse than Macleods. Is there any heat on Scotland ?

I don’t think Scotland should get any heat. Overall they have been relatively where most expected given the player movement…with a bit of luck could have had Hursty and Banyule as wins and interesting a Banyule were flat yesterday as well….last weeks game may have taken a toll on both sides.

Macleod played their best footy of the year yesterday and deserved the win, I don’t think Bulls lost the game, I think Macleod won it if you get what I mean…

Yeah I get it, Macleod won and Bundoora lost. Exactly what the score says.

You would think massive pressure on the Bulls, reserves one of the worst in first division history and 19's 2nd last in division. 3. No depth at all.

Macleod on the board in 2024 after edging NFNL Division 1 relegation rival Bundoora

Macleod claimed its first win of the NFNL Division 1 season on Saturday with scenes of joy overflowing in the rooms after the match.

The scenes in the Macleod changerooms on Saturday told fans all they needed to know about what the club’s first win of the season meant.
A nail-biting 19-point win over Bundoora at DeWinton Park broke the drought – seven games this season and 11 dating back to last year.

The a 14.11 (95) to 11.10 (76) victory also lifts the club off the bottom of the NFNL Division 1 ladder, moving ahead of Eltham on percentage.

Kangas coach Craig Hayes described it as “electric”.

“The atmosphere in the rooms afterwards, as you’d expect after a tough seven weeks, the joy on their faces,” Hayes said.

“They finished singing the song, and there was plenty of enthusiasm in that, then they spent five minutes hugging each other.

“With all the friends and family in there as well, it was electric, it was fantastic, and hopefully that builds a bit of momentum for us.”

In a tight, tense clash, the margin was rarely more than a goal and the scores were level 68-apiece at three-quarter-time.

As both sides traded behinds in the early stages, Bundoora held a one-point lead mid-way through the final term.

However, the scores level again Haydon Manuel gave Macleod the lead and when Anthony Doherty’s miracle snap sailed through the home team had a seven-point advantage.

Mackenzie Hogg, a standout best-on-ground alongside brother Darcy, then kicked truly out of traffic and the Kangas were home.

Jordan Corelli’s goal after the final siren put the cherry on top.

Fielding six 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, Hayes praised his players calmness and composure in a chaotic final quarter.

“About the 18 or 20-minute-mark there was still only five points in it, neither side could get more than two goals up at any stage,” he said.

“We were going to the scoring end, not that there was any great breeze, it just felt like most of the scoring had been done at that end.

“It felt like we were running pretty well on top of the ground, we’d rotated pretty heavily, and we were able to run the game our really well.

“Our pressure was enormous, we worked really hard defensively and that created numerous opportunities.”

The Hogg brothers excelled, continuing their strong seasons despite Macleod’s struggles and Tyler Beale was outstanding in the fourth term.

Ruckman Zach Hudson impressed, while Doherty finished with three majors and – in his return to the senior side – Patrick Martin and Michael Hurley kicked two goals each.

“(The Hoggs) were fantastic, Mac Hogg laid six tackles in the first quarter, he was enormous and both those boys are terrific players,” Hayes said.

“Darcy would be well in the high 30s (disposals) again.

“We spoke about front-half footy for the boys, we felt they were getting a lot of ball in the back-half and they both hit the scoreboard (on Saturday) and had numerous inside 50s.

“(Darcy) is close (to a VFL call-up), there’s some blokes on the AFL list that play similar roles so it’s been difficult for him to get a look in but it will come, you can’t play that well and not.

“Tyler came to us last year, he’s got a rugby background, and it’s taken him a little bit of time to find his best position.

“Good luck getting through a tackle he lays, I’ve seen a couple try and been stopped dead in their tracks.

“He took some really good marks (on Saturday) and some of his rebound run, it was by far his best game for the club and he puts in a lot of work, so I was really pleased for him.”

Macleod faces Greensborough after the King’s Birthday weekend before tackling Banyule, Eltham and West Preston-Lakeside in what could be a season-defining month.

Elsewhere in Division 1, West Preston-Lakeside stunned second-placed Banyule by 19 points and Montmorency overcame Greensborough by 27 points.

North Heidelberg edged Hurstbridge by eight points and Heidelberg handed Eltham a Division 1 lesson with a 115-point hiding.

I can think of 40,000 + reasons why he wouldn't walk. Lost some quality players over summer so don't think their current plight is a shock to those within the club.
HAHAHA - $40K - I think that their committee would be happy if they only paid him $40K
I guess you have to ask what players did Scotland bring to the club? Probably should be getting less than $40K with what he has brought to the club. They are hanging on by a thread,,,,, Lucky Eltham is so poor because Bundy has no reserves or under 19 numbers or talent - Hard to believe that this club has gone to sh&% so quickly.
What has changed down there in the last 2 years????

Weren’t they broke before Covid and Ryan saved them?

Obviously when he left so did a lot of cash and players.

Having been through it before at North, it can go south very quickly.

Hopefully the supporters stick fat and get around the current committee because it isn’t fun being in their boots I can assure you.

North were lucky Boomer retired at a time that could pick them back up. Don’t see Bundoora having the same opportunity.

It’s hard to believe but look at NP and Lalor’s decline how quickly you can fall.

Bundoora would want to survive relegation because once the attractiveness of D1 football is gone it’s harder to recruit again.

Didn’t epping drop divisions back to back as well? Old paradians gathering momentum as a NFNL club only makes things even harder
