No, in the last 2 Grand Finals Macleod lost because both Bundoora and West Preston had dominant Ruckman, also both games were very close and could have gone either way, having a decent Ruckman is an area where MacLeod have been lacking. The coach can ask for one but it is generally up to the club to come up with the money to get one. I think he did well with what he had.
The same happened to Eltham last year when Patty Flynn dominated. If a club wants to win a Grand Final at Preston they need to have the right Big Men.
Yep i agree both teams had a dominant ruckmen. But definately think he was out coached against Bundoora and dont you think 12 months after being dominated by a ruckmen in the grand final he would have some kind of plan to minimise the effect of the West ruckman? Anyway just cant see Mont climbing out of that bottom 3.

Has anyone gone past Montys ground of late I went past on Tuesday what a disgrace, Barron sandy patches all over it and then look at lowers ground what a difference so not sure why as they are both Banyule council grounds . I hate too see what its going to look like in July and August.

I also rate Rob Maiorana, he got West firing at the right time of the season.

Lower got redone with that summer grass many years ago. Montmorency hasn't ever which is very surprising seeing its probably the most used ground in the Northern Football League.

Overall Banyule city council is very very ordinary at upgrading sports grounds compared to Nillumbik.

they ( council) must but surely the club has gone to NNFL to try and get some help getting the council to come to the party because it would be the worst ground in that councils area

Thought you said you hate rob Mairoana.. you wouldnt of been the only bloke to think that about him.. Stepped on a few toes since being back from what ive heard..

Maybe that's what they needed, got the job done.

With Hurstbridge offering to pay there under 19s players, does this come under the salary cap? Not sure its the best idea
Saw that. Is it correct they get 100 per game from 1-9 and 200 per game from 10-18?

Great idea IMO. Costs you bugger all in the scheme of things. It’s max $10 a game at best.

If it gets some kids to the club what a great idea. And yes should be in the salary cap but I doubt hursty is pushing that.

Lol no, read it properly. If they played 18 games they get $200 at the end of the season. So what $12 a game
Only have to play 10 games to get $200 don’t they? I understand they want kids through the door, but having to pay $3k-$4k plus to get them to play and all these players also don’t have to buy a membership. Just think it could turn pear shaped and be exploited

Yep looking at it 10 for $200.. Whos going to exploit it? What does that even mean? Lets play 10 games of footy and quit? You have to buy short and socks which is around $65..

Getting recruits from 19s saves you money down the track anyway.

I suppose you just dont want like 10 mates going down and getting $1000 off the club and then not turning up again and leaving them in a hole again. Its not a bad idea, but it does send out some alarm bells of where Hurstbridge is at! Is it also true that Shaw may be out for the majority of the year?

whats the difference between what hursty are doing and what other clubs do when they cover the entire registration cost of their 19s players which would be worth in excess of $300? no difference to me........not a issue

Its a bit different, in that not only are they covering all the players rego fees ($300), but they are forking out another $100-$200 per player. So instead of getting $300 x 20 players. They lose that $6000 there, plus another $4000 or more on payments. Sounds like a big risk to take. But i suppose if they are desperate, you have to take that risk!

Not exactly a game changer in getting players, paying $12 per game. Can’t see it achieving much.

North Heidelberg Senior Coach Announcement
It is with great pleasure that the North Heidelberg Sporting Club announces the appointment of Brent “Boomer” Harvey as senior playing... coach for season 2019.

Brent’s appointment comes after the resignation of former coach Jimmy House who informed the club in the middle of January due to personal reasons he was unable to commit to the club for the upcoming season.

In recent weeks the football department has worked extremely hard to find a replacement with Jimmy’s departure & whilst we realised an appointment was required to keep our pre-season on track proper due diligence was required to find the right applicant & Brent was the ideal candidate to fill the vacant position.

With Brent’s experience in the AFL system as a quality player & leader for North Melbourne in addition to his recent years at North Heidelberg winning two club best fairest in season 2017 & 2018 plus being a runaway winner in the competition medal in his inaugural year with the Bulldogs he feels it is time to step into the coaching caper & what better way than with a club that he has been associated with for many years with father Neil & younger brother Shane being former or current greats of the club.

The official announcement was made to the playing group & training staff this evening & behind the scenes Brent has evaluated the list & expects the club with the current depth at his disposal that there is an expectation that we can repeat our 2018 finals appearance & hopefully go a few steps further.

Best wishes Boomer from all of us at the club.

Coaching Panel for 2019
Kane O’Brien (Senior Assistant Coach)
Stephen De Luca (Senior Assistant Coach/Strategy & Opposition)
Leigh Gilbert (Line Coach)
Paul Kennedy (Development Coach)
Mick Kendrick (U/19s Coach)

Shock decision

Shock horror r.e Boomer

Hursty 19 payment included in salary cap, obviously not ideal but good on them for having a crack at getting players on board.
