In fairness boro were the best team all year,
Unfortunately the conditions at Preston can cause teams game style to be thrown out the window credit where it’s due west Preston have been able to deliver back to back flags.

Happens often.
Some teams understand that to win it you have to build a team that can play well on the big Preston ground and in the conditions. Others don't.
You can win games on postage stamp grounds and grounds that are poor condition but it means nothing.
Ask Mont and even McLeod.
Bundoora do it well and West do it well.

WP’s coach who was 0-6 into a flag is a mammoth effort. IMO easily the coaching performance of the year

Greens did not even take the game on in last quarter they were out coached from 1/4 time hardly switched the ball or play the right side to score in the last quarter. Credit to WPL they got the game on their terms and got the job done. Greensy needed to play grandstand side in the last quarter thats was the attacking side for them they kept playing the other side coaching left to be bit desired their. Any ways say all the excuses you want with week of and that but dont think coaching staff gave them good enough instructions on howe play the ground on the day.

Wowee...the second semi curse continues. Credit to West they played exceptionally well, especially after conceding 4 goals to 2 into a 5-goal breeze in the first quarter. First time I’d seen both teams all year and I was surprised at the lack of key forwards on at both ends, especially Boro. Obviously West have Saad, though.

Agree with above, is Top 5 the best way to go? In fairness, West came from 5th today. Northcote Park won from 5th in 2012.

Actually like the final 5 in that it gives another team ( in seniors ,reserves and under 19 ) a chance to play finals. Most clubs cherish the weeks break in that it helps get your best team on the ground. Whatever system it all comes down to who was best on the day.
Thought the game was well umpired in the tricky wind conditions.

agree with most others here, 2 weekends off during a 4 week finals series is not good for continuity. 1 week off in a 3 week series is much easier to manage.
Can't see the league going back to a 3 week series though, assume they make a bit of cash off the finals.

Div 1 season would need to finish one week later so that Div 1 and Div 2 Grand Finals aren’t played on the same weekend unless all Div 1 finals teams have a bye on the first week as per AFL

I know that the Borough were wrapped to win in week 2 and have a weeks rest before the grand final. Allowed some players to recover from minor injuries.
The weeks rest had no impact on their loss. They were beaten by a better side on the day.
My club Mont are chasing some big local names. Watch this space.

Its not necessarily the premiership coach that should win it, but to be 0 and 6 and get your team not only competitive again, but to go on and make finals and win the flag against the red hot favourites, it is a amazing achievement.

Have a look at the league's audited financial report. They don't make a large profit and seem to be reliant on good finals revenue ( and good weather ) just to get to that result. Brokering deals is important and I thought this was being achieved. Stand to be corrected on that though as I'm not involved the past few years

It is with great pleasure that the North Heidelberg Sporting Club announces the appointment of Jason Heatley as the club’s senior coach for the next two seasons.
Jason brings a wealth of knowledge & experience to the role having coached at various clubs after a successful playing career at AFL level with initially West Coast before plying his trade at St Kilda.
His local playing career included seasons as a century goal kicker with North Heidelberg in 1992 & 2001 (senior coach) as well as being a member of the Division 1 premiership side in 2005.
Post playing, Jason to date has a successful coaching history with time at Warrnambool & Wantirna South before returning to the NFNL & coaching Northcote Park between seasons 2012-2014 & saluting with a premiership in his first year. In the same season he was named Northern Region Coach of the year.
In recent years a further premiership followed with Heidelberg in season 2016 where he had the position of co-coach before accepting a role with Doncaster in the Eastern Football League.
We believe it is an exciting time for the club as we look to make our mark in Division 1 of the premier community competition in the state. Having a person of Jason's calibre & the credentials is further testament to the progress the club has made since our return to the top division over the last two seasons.
At the same time the NHSC extends a big thank you in appreciation to Brent Harvey for his terrific contribution as senior coach where he stepped up to the role at short notice late in pre-season. The great work by Boomer & his coaching team ensured we consolidated our position where we finished a creditable third in 2019 after the continued improvement & development of our playing list. We can confirm that Boomer will still be running around in a Doggies jumper in 2020.

Great appointment. I may be old school but a strong North Heidelberg is a good league. Some smart people have clearly taken over the past few years. Hear the reunion with Bundoora Thunderbolts will bear fruit with a stand alone U19s as well. Its critical and well done.
