Northcote Parks last win was back in 2019! The spoon battle this year is fascinating
In a normal world, this would be news worthy but considering their last win was Round 16 of 2019, there was no footy in 2020, they lost the 12 games they played in 2021 and the first 3 of 2022, it's only been 17 games without a win.

If you want to beat it up like the papers, going in to 2021, no team had won a game for app. 500 days!

I agree that the season could be fascinating though with anyone winning on their day.

Round 4 wrap, only picked 2 out of 5 missing on Macleod, Mont and Nth Heid

Biggest winner of the round: Northcote Park who broke though for the all important first win. With Boyse up forward kicking 5 out of 9 goals and with Schroder leading from the front they hung on to a 4 point win over Macleod. Makes the relegation battle even tighter now.

Biggest loser of the round: Whittlesea losing to Heidelberg is not a surprise but by 142 has sent the eagles to last. Percentage dropped from 84.70 to 57.93 which is 1.62% behind 9th placed Northcote park. 4 teams with one win, relegation stakes is going to come down to Nth Heid, Macleod, Northcote Park and Whittlesea. Losses like this have a huge effect, can the eagles bounce back?

Pat Fitzgerald leads goal kicking with 14
Danny younan 11
Patrick Martin 10

I wouldn't be taking Hurstbridge out of that relegation battle just yet. They have a really poor percentage.
You'd expect all the top teams to beat the bottom teams in Round 5. But no gurantees

Round 6 and 7 is where it gets interesting. That's where teams at the bottom can separate themselves with a 1 or 2 game buffer or in hurstbridges case, back well and truly in a relegation battle

ROUND 6:
Northcote vs Hurtsbridge

Whittlesea vs Macleod

ROUND 7:
Macleod vs Hurstbridge

Whittlesea vs North Heidelberg

Fantasic when relegation battle is close. I still think NP will go down but gee Macleod looked woeful against Boro and a number of players certainly not at a level of fitness id expect for D1.

Wonder if Caddy will bob up in the NFNL, probably not this season you'd think but if he were to play Eltham or Heidelberg would be a guess, or Bundy with cousin. Would dominate local footy.

Round 5 of Division 1 and we are starting to see the ladder take shape.

Hurstbridge (6th 2-2) take on Montmorency (5th 2-2). Can the bridges find themselves in the top 5 at 5pm Saturday? They would have been very disappointed with there last start performance getting blown away by Bundoora in the first half. They haven’t made any changes so putting faith in last weeks group to bounce back. For Mont they are also coming off a lose going down to Boro at home. They lose Lentini and Wale-Buxton which are both big omissions.
Think this will be close but Mont to bring home the 4 points to Para Rd. Mont by 17.

Greensborough (2nd 3-1) vs Northcote Park (9th 1-3). The Boro had a hard fought win with Tom Bell starring last week to move to the top of the Coaches award voting. They do lose Brindley this week who has been in good form.
The cougars will arrive at War Memorial full of confidence after opening their 2022 account with a great 4 point win last week. They do lose Borcarini and Schroder who are both important players for them.
Boro to continue on their winning ways by 41 points.

West Preston (3rd 3-1) vs Macleod (8th 1-3) The roosters aren’t setting the world on fire but are still banking wins which is what good teams do. They lose Aujla for a few weeks with suspension but do get back Dreher who is an important part of their team. For the kangaroos they would be bitterly disappointed going down to Northcote Park last week and putting themselves into relegation talks. Hobbs is third in coaches voting and leading from the front like he does but he needs a few mates to go with him. They still have class players in Brandt, Martin, White and Paynter but has their depth dropped away. Think this is a danger game for the roosters, but they will win in another close one by 16 points.

Heidelberg (1st 3-1) vs Nth Heidelberg (7th 1-3). The tigers are in terrific form coming back from the Showgrounds with 4 points and a massive % boost. Sier misses his first game and however with 13 players hitting the scoreboard last week they have plenty of options. For the doggies one that got away last week, 21 scoring shots to 13 and go down by 2 points. They say bad kicking is bad footy and that was the case last week. 4 changes including the loss of Brent Harvey doesn’t help and I can see the tigers marching on. Heidelberg by 27 points.

Bundoora (2nd 3-1) vs Whittlesea (10th 1-3) The bulls had a great 10 goal win last week and then proceed to bring back Zaharakis, Lloyd, Shepheard and name Neville Jetta for his first game. Much to like about this bulls line up. For the Eagles, well reading the above isn’t great and coming off a 142 point loss it isn’t going to get any easier. They have played some young kids which is great for the club and they do get Higgins and Murphy back but lose the Wild brothers and Andrews who have been consistent players in 2022. The bulls to go on there merry way by 81 points.

Enjoy the footy, let’s hope weather stays dry.

Fairly imposing list of ins for the bulls, just what the eagles will want to see after coming off 140 point loss.

I'm surprised with Hurstsbridge.
Bundoora cant play there best team if everyone is available. I believe Tyler Young is at Richmond aswell, who is a 3-4 pointer. But it still looks like a veey good team with 46/46

4 out of 5 missing on West Preston

Winner of the round: Macleod, tipped it would be close but Macleod getting over the line is a great win for the Kangaroos, especially after losing to Northcote Park the week before. Gets them one win away from relegation. With Whittlesea away this week.

Loser of the round: Where are West Preston at, have lost to Macleod and Whittlesea both at home and only beat Nth Heidelberg by 2 points. Have Greensborough, Mont and Heidelberg over next 4 weeks, massive challenge but still not writing them off

Bulls were good v Whittlesea, they can score quickly when momentum shifts although interesting to see they have lost both last quarters in the last two games albeit with big leads. Easy to focus on the big names but some of the others are strong contributors to their game atm.Thought Jorgensen was very good at the weekend as a lead-up forward and he is building a nice little combo in fwd 50 stoppages with young Bowne who trailed off him a few times during the game opening up the goals. I liked the look of Howard in the ruck as well, he gets around the ground very well. Whittlesea are pretty competitve at the ball. The score up to halftime was not a real guide to how the game was going and a poor 3rd Q really hurt them, they will win a few more games, I don't see them being relegated on that form.

All good and well to look good in patches. But they have lost there last 2 by a combined 200 points. Not going to be easy for them to win a few more games

If not them then who?

Good question, I thought they looked better than Hurstbridge, all in all, it will be a close-run thing. Interesting to see how Macleod follow up their victory. I wonder if relegation will come down to percentage?

Same as who makes up the finals who flogs whittlesea by the most to gain percentage 😂
