Macleod outbid Bergs? I find this hard to believe 🤣
Darcy could’ve easily have gone to Heidelberg and walked into a premiership to add to the resume but I think he’s more of a solid citizen who is more about club and team, than personal accolades.

From what I can gather he and his family are settled in the environment at Macleod, especially with recently having a 3rd kid and that played an important role in his decision making.

Or that Gilmore is returning and he didn’t want to play 2’s. Just saying😱

Being paid handsomely. Macleod offering decent coin but unable to sign anyone outside their own list. Big offers for average talent.
So they have signed/kept everyone on their list they wanted to (going down a division) had a 19's that made the GF as well as a pretty young senior squad, a new president and financially stable. If they get lucky and grab one or two players in positions they need then could very well jump straight back up. Yep, bloody horrible position to be in.

And if they don't go straight back up, we will be back in 12 months and everyone saying they should have gone harder with the recruiting. Its a fine line.

They are no doubt trying to recruit, not a easy market from all reports.

There Colts won the flag in YJFL Div 2 with 80% of first year boys.
If they can bring most of this group through the future is promising.

Ask Ivanhoe and what The Berg did to them. Just saying😱
Don't mention the war 😝

As a rule the club does not like to look backwards and believe the past is the past. IFC will remain committed to learning from that experience and focus on things within its control to grow moving forward, knowing if it can get it right, then we can be a very competitive club within the NFNL.
*end club statement
😝😝😝

Wonder how Eltham feels to see an under 16 poached to PH. Will this be a new trend for clubs ?

Poaching is not a great word.

Players are allowed to speak to other clubs and be allowed to go where they want without it being called poaching. IMO lets stick to it being called recruiting or providing different opportunities.

All clubs rely on recruiting, especially ones without U16s or some without any junior program, even U19s.

Just unusual for an under 16 to speak to a senior club. But if his old man’s a coach then that explains it.

Eltham senior club I assume wouldn’t speak formally or attempt to contract under 16s player.

Yeah, might as well remove Loyalty from the dictionary. "Local Footy" and what it is meant to be is dead

In my experience, for every bloke that leaves to chase cash there are plenty more that are happy playing their local club, or somewhere with their mates, on a lower matchy than they could get if they shopped themselves around.
