My last post before the Grand Final as I know both these clubs really well because they both looked after my sons in such a wonderful way through their respective junior and under 19 careers - I support the bears but I have a soft spot for the Panthers - Both wonderful clubs
This game will be won on Thursday night IMHO at selection
Clearly Eltham will not play Still as he is injured or age has caught up with him and number 17 (Byron) is to slow (Overweight) to play on big grounds - If either play the bears win!
For the bears Stanton & Dyson offer a heap of experience and could be valuable but we cant play both
The temptation to play blokes who have not played for many weeks will be interesting - Will that be the X factor?
Both coaches are excellent and the best coach will prevail on Thursday night but BEARS by 9 points

I thought you had already posted your last post
Thanks oldtimer great to have a fan club watching me so closely - No more posts but I am a shift worker and I will respond to other peoples posts if that is OK with you?
I said previously that this game will be won or lost at selection and I stand by that - injured players coming in for both sides will be targeted as they should so lets see if those players are not prepared????

Panther reserves by 85 - Far to good for the ressies comp it’ll be a blood bath.

Panther seniors by 23 - Got a feeling it’ll click early and they’ll be too good. A few risky selections but Hyde has been around long enough to have good judgment with that.

Grand final changes
Eltham
In Jason McCormick and Jackson Weatherald
Out: David Evans (15 seniors games, playing reserves grand final and Michael Still

Banyule
In: Christian Farchione (17 senior games) and Kye Yodgee (14 senior games)
Out: Daniel Kelly (20 senior games, 8 times in best) and Lincoln Sieben (19 senior games)

Match ups
Tim Martin vs Finnbar Maley
Ruben Blackmore-Moore vs Daniel Horsfield
Riley Loton vs Ben Montanaro
Nick Biscontin vs Matthew Byron
Jack Langford vs Luke Wachinger

The biggest match up of the above for me is the Martin vs Maley one, it’s experience vs youth. Can Martin use his size and bulk to give his onballers first use and into the talented Banyule forward line OR can Maley use his athleticism and running capacity to give Eltham that vital link on the big PCO.

PCO requires a CHF to stand up and be that link between back and forward, does Banyule play Langford higher up the ground and use him as that running CHF or do they go with Edwards and keep Langford deeper inside 50.
Same for Eltham, does Byron play out of the goal square and use his size and bulk to bring the ball to ground.

Last time both teams played in grand finals they were on the end of losses, Banyule in 2019 to Whittlesea and Eltham in 2018 to Lower Plenty.

So who will it be being promoted into Division 1 in 2023;
Banyule for first time in clubs history OR
Eltham going back into division 1, last time was in 2017.

Going to be a great game, toss of the coin for me. Going with the youth and exuberance of Eltham, been the best team all year. Eltham by 4 points.
Best on ground: Finnbar Maley

2/4 leading goal kickers for Panther in the ressies. Very surprising. Not to mention 1 plays knights mostly

Williamson kicked 23 goals and looking at that great write up by Thunder, Mccormick has kicked 21 in 6 games. From all reports the kid can play.
