I think the problem will be that clubs have already divided the salary cap maximum over 16 rounds and if it changes to 18 rounds they will have to work out how to keep under the cap. Players take a cut or maybe play more on match payments?

Stude a couple more Mernda veterans heading to the Bush the plan to play kids might mean a step back but might result in 2 Forward

Think that makes about 9 Snr's from last year who wont be playing this year for Mernda so the Salary cap shouldn't be a problem 16 or 18 rounds. I'm sure they have a 3 to 5 year plan to bring the young ones up to speed just hope the good one's stick it out, hard to keep really good kids in D3 for long. Short term pain for long term gain.

where do you think Mernda are sitting based on off season moves around the division stude?

Would have to finish somewhere between 1st and last one would think.
Some teams seemed to have recuited well over the off season so the battle for the top 4 will be interesting.
I think Laurimer will be in for a strong season especially if Sherman decides to lace up against the top teams.

It won't be as easy for Panton Hill as some may think. I'll be interested in how they integrate a first class ruck-man in when they already have a top notch one.
From what I've seen he has never been a dangerous forward (might change in division 3). Will they be to top heavy with Boyden, McLellan and Bryon all in the same forward line? Will dominate on their tiny ground but may cause some headaches come the bigger ovals with some agile defenders.

There current ruckman isn’t in the same league as Mclellan, so I don’t think it will be an issue with him playing ruck and resting forward.

I guess that’s the point in a way. Their current ruckman didn’t kick a goal last years and I’m guessing will now be playing over 50% forward if your saying McLellan will be a starting ruck.

Id say last years ruckmen will probably start on the bench and then come on when Mclellan goes forward. Id say it a pretty good position to be in, rather then a negaitive one.

Box hill north are talked about as finishing last in VAFA div 4 and only a start up team great choice to pump up the confidence and build hype. next they will be playing Ardmona

Gee whiz some are quick to sink the boots in on here.A February praccy I would of thought results not to important.Div 3 or 4 whats it matter? Some of you superstars should jump off this forum and only write on the Afl as your clearly better.PFFFFT.Oh and I have no involvement at Lalor but wish em well.Ben gets on here and is informative and honest and some of you parasites just take the pi$$.Rant over.

Box Hill North lost to nunawading last year by around the same margin and they finished dead last in efl did 4

Ok? Like that’s relevant. Sorry what would have been the bench mark? 90 not good enough obviously. Are people really going to judge a side from a week night practice match in feb.

Div 1 clubs generally play a couple of tough teams and a team that they know they are a class above to not only get confidence, but to work on structures and game plans. Good on them. Nothing wrong with it at all!

I'm not sure what all the hype is about mid-week matches in Feb - They are just a light hit out and the guys from Box Hill reached out to us...?

I was very grateful for clubs having an open mind with the BLOODS in 2018... We will be doing a similar thing with Ardmona, Hadfiled and Reservoir between now and March... Conversely, North Heidelberg have reached out to start thinking about a potential Friday night match, our young guys will learn a lot and Boomer is open to showing our players the requirements of D1 footy.

Maybe it's a different page were reading the pre-season script from but, we're happy with it.

Nth Heidelberg really? Be a good lesson that one. 19s numbers looking promising? What about junior grades. 19s struggle in all 3 divisions

I think its great, the more match practice you can get in the better and you will be more prepared for round 1. Not sure its a great idea playing a Div 1 finalist for your young kids confidence, but hey a good smacking might do them good! Good on Lalor!
