His dad was pumped after the gather round win, sounded like he was a big fan.Has Welsh confirmed he will come to us via Father Son? The players get a say don't they?
What burgess talk?..There is the scenario where he doesn't play league this year and still stays at WWT next year.
If he played for us in '24 he would effectively be a top up player. He won't be a full-time AFL listed player. People can forget this Burgess talk.
I have no idea what our top up players schedules look like, do they train with the club?
I don’t think this means what we think it means. It’s his number on a list. Not sure what the list is.Someone mentioned his tiktok account is tylerwelsh119 so would seem he is a fan at least
If he hasn't then people at the club need a bollocking. What burgess talk?..
That he would benefit from being advised by one of the best fitness coaches in the business?.. that talk?
Or that Burgess even has him on a program already?..
He’s a father son that spends time at the club already in the NGA/FS program.. and everything currently points to him being a high draft pick in 2024..
there’s no way he wouldnt have already had contact with Burgess and been given some decent advice on how to get his body ready for AFL already..
Do you think he wouldnt have?
Did he post something? His dad was pumped after the gather round win, sounded like he was a big fan.
Nah saw him after the game, he sat down next to us at the pub.Did he post something?
Did you ask how tall Tyler is?Nah saw him after the game, he sat down next to us at the pub.
I was tempted to ask about Tyler haha, he was having a beer with Biglands. Didn't want to bother them at all, he was initiating the chat and excited about the game.Did you ask how tall Tyler is?

I dont see many people placing expectations on him.. other than a couple of people saying he’s a tex replacement!..He won't be a full time AFL listed player until the end of 2024 at the earliest, if he does get selected.
I'm sure he will have contact with our fitness people before then.
The expectations being placed on him already are starting to get ridiculous.

I dont think there is anything wrong with some of us hoping that he gets to play for us in the sanfl next season though.. or pointing out that the club wouldve already had Burgess have a good chat to him and give him a fitness regime that puts him in good stead for a future/potential AFL career..
I say the earlier he can get training fulltime with our AFL squad and playing along side many of them, at least at sanfl level, the better..
The sooner he gets to know his fellow team mates traits and they way they play etc the better dont you think?
A team cannot match a first round bid on a FS prospect, if they have taken a previous FS pick in the first round, within a three year period. Rule to revert back to the old rule a year later. So which rule will be changed so we can't get Welsh?
Sanfl’s rules say a F/S can play for port or crows sanfl side in his draft year if he hasnt already played a senior game for his current sanfl club..I don't think that can actually happen though. He's not eligible to be drafted until the end of 2024.
My gut feel is he might be best served in the WWT set up for '24, then come to us like every other draftee after the '24 national draft.
He'll still be able to get to West Lakes plenty of times throughout the year.
It's just a gut feel because I don't have the full details.
**** I thought you were stating an actual rule for a minute.A team cannot match a first round bid on a FS prospect, if they have taken a previous FS pick in the first round, within a three year period. Rule to revert back to the old rule a year later.
Sanfl’s rules say a F/S can play for port or crows sanfl side in his draft year if he hasnt already played a senior game for his current sanfl club..
So it can definitely happen.
I can just see it coming in all reality.* I thought you were stating an actual rule for a minute.
Yeah - I can see that - maybe a maximum number of F/S bids in a 3 year period.I can just see it coming in all reality.
Some clubs have had alot of father sons, while others have had none.
I can imagine the AFL having a knee jerk reaction to "even things up" which would look something like this.
Not particularly scientific, but from memory the 17 yo early access minidraft guys, especially Martin and Brouch had a lot of soft tissue probs early. There is probably a some merit in waiting until kids are adults before putting them in adult training environments.I think you will find that Welsh will be treated with kid gloves, he's a prized asset for the Crows.
At the start of the season Welsh trained with the Eagles senior squad before finally succumbing to stress fractures of the back.
He took a fair while to get fit again. He is currently still only sixteen so he doesn't need to be rushed. As mentioned previously, the options of playing either U18s, reserves or league at the Eagles would seem the most sensible and appropriate.
Wont it be Michalanney, Michalanney, and Welsh?Michalanney and Welsh within 4 years - I like this FS thing now.
