I took my son, Ryan, down to a practice match at Kardinia Park about 6-7 years ago - this would have made him about 5 years old. It was a bizarre setup where the senior game was on before the reserves and we were standing in the players race watching the magoos go around. Scotty Turner came up the race and stood beside us and started mucking around, 'borrowing' Ryan's toy binoculars and phantom calling the horse races on the other side of the ground.

He was also asking what number Ryan had on his back... The exchange went something like:
> What number have you got on your back?
< 2
> Who wears number 2?
< Darren Gaspar
> Why have you got Darren Gaspar's number?
> I did have Richo's but the 1 fell off!

From that same day, I don't have particularly fond memories of Ben Harrison, while Ross Funcke was a very quiet country kid.

Richo is the nicest guy ever.
A fair few years ago the big man came in and took the time to see me in hospital and have a chat about the season ahead and just normal things.
It really annoys me how people critisise him and say he's a sook and a spoilt brat because he is the opposite.

Dont care if he has been retired for twenty years but Michael Roach is a star person.

I was taken a back as a kid at his modesty. Will tell you that he was the lucky recepient of good delivery all his career. One of our true greats.

I hear too many stories about Free to doubt them. He is not interesting enough for blokes to make them up about him. Still being thrown out of clubs by bouncers? Wasnt he a players manager?
