I really enjoy you narrowing the parameters to suit the outcome you seek

Why does need to be 50 games and excluding mature aged players?

Should we also exclude left footers and anyone that doesn’t have a brother playing in the same team?

You, the author, posed the question of whether Nicki could be the GOAT, not the best 50 games from a 19 year old draftee

He is trolling big time - the thread should have been sent to the Bay a long time ago - where it could be dealt with in the manner it deserves.
It’s a shame because it could of been a decent thread discussing what constitutes at goat contender and having some actual discussion about why/why not Daicos could be the goat

But the constant shifting of goalposts and inability for good faith discussions to be taken it’s turned into the dumpster fire it is now

In the context of this thread, Sheezel had the better debut season, especially considering he was also a year younger

Also plenty of evidence noted here that Nicki isn't the best 50 game player

Unless we need to factor in, "almost winning awards"
So you're not sure where you ranked either among their peers in the given seasons.

It's okay, I was just checking if this was something you'd considered doing.

It is a "middle finger thread" - inflammatory faux responses to people's arguments with constantly shifting goalposts and invites aggressive responses. Using the premise of the thread to put down players from other clubs etc etc etc..typical trolling stuff.

Best first 50 game is kind of an arbitrary benchmark. Tim Watson had been playing for 4 seasons and had a B&F by the time ND debuted as a 19yr old.

Up until around 2010, someone with a January birthday would have drafted as a 17yr old and been 18in their first season. It is a shame ND has missed out on a year of his career.

Why should we exclude mature age players? Should we exclude GAS from GOAT conversations?
There are two elements to the discussion:

1. The thread title - Can Daicos be the GOAT. When assessing this, we assess each players' careers in their entirety, so obviously their age of debut is irrelevant. Obviously, we haven't yet got Daicos' full career to assess, so the thread will be used to track his progress on this front.

2. The thread was started based on Daicos' first two seasons, on the basis they were up there in comparison to the very best first two seasons from a player drafted at their minimum draft age. Clearly it is disingenuous to claim Hardie was better because he won a Brownlow in his first season (he debuted as a 22 year old) or Liberatore had won a Brownlow after 37 games (as a 24 year old).

The above two elements are common-sense, I would have thought anyway...

Maybe people shouldn't mention Norm Smith Medals either, because like ANZAC Day Medals, players from teams like Carlton don't have the opportunity to win them either...
Geez that’s brutal Fadge.

How long did you spend conjuring up that pointy barb towards the defenceless Carlton pheasant?

The ellipses at the end was a particular twisting of the knife

Your basic grammar needs work mate …

“..we haven't yet got Daicos' full career to assess, to the thread will be used to track his progress on this front.”

These are really good points, and Tim Watson is a great example of a player for whom it could be argued was in the same ballpark as Daicos in the early years of his career. He finished 5th in the Brownlow in his 4th season (as an 18/19 year old) - so logically you would consider age ahead of number of seasons where Watson is concerned.

What was future GOAT HBF Nick Daicos doing at 15 years, 305 days when Watson was debuting?

Again, point 2 has nothing to do with the original OP.

No one actually has any idea on what basis you started this thread, but now, you have added point 2 to narrow the criteria to benefit the outcome you seek.

I would call that being disingenuous

What are you on about?

We shouldn't be assessing Daicos' first two years (or 3 years after this year, or 4 years after 2025) in consideration of how he is tracking relative to the greatest players of all time?

Should we just guess how he's going to perform for the next 15 years and discuss that, or should we not discuss anything until his career is over?

By the way, noone is twisting your arm to comment in this thread if you don't like the premise of it.

Again, why 50 games, while excluding mature aged players?

Thinking of starting an equally meritorious discussion thread:

T2B_ - Can he sleep with Sydney Sweeney?

Thoughts?
